The basic idea is: 1492, 4 humans, 1 of them takes Muscovy, and the other 3 take weaker countries surrounding it, such as Teutonic Order, Crimea, and Sibir. The 3 weaker countries would not be required to cooperate against Muscovy, they could even fight among themselves if they wanted to. Post here if you're interested stating which country you'd prefer, and the times you are available for playing.

Nice idea, the only problem with it is that the minors would be overpowered very fast. The only way they could succeded would be to work together and ally, if the spent there time fighting amongst themselves it wouldn't be a challenge at all. The first thing that will happen is Russia will conquer the T.O. before they even know whats going on. Then the player will invade Lithuania and the remenants of the GH and be knocking on Crimeas and Sibirs doorstep. Maybe this game would be more fun if you allowed the three players to control Poland, Lithuania and Sweden? Although then the balance would shift into there favour. Thats the problem with fighting superpowers the only way to beat them is to hit them with more stuff then they have, or hold them off long enough for revolts to sweep through there provinces.

Yes, the three minor players would have to cooperate if they were to stand any chance. If you still think the minors would lose even if they cooperated, maybe replace Teutonics with Poland. Lithuania is not open to human control in 1492, it starts as a vassal of Poland.

As mentioned I think you would be better off with a mixture of the major Eastern powers inc Sweden. Such as Russia, Sweden, Lithunia, Poland.

BTW a country may be human controlled when it is a vassal.

Yes as fare as I can see even working together three minor powers would not be able to stem the tide of a major like Russia. From what I gathered from your post title "Stop the Russian Superpower" it means you want to crush them not be beaten silly like bad kids.:D So of course you ask any player whats the best way to counter a major power would be to play another major power. In this case as has been stated by both me and Mowers the main contenders around Russia are Poland, Lithuania, Sweden, Denmark and I guess the Golden Horde to be too if they managed to keep there revolts down. So unless you want to have a title "Give the Russians a little target pratice":D you may want to allow the players to pick better countries.
