Game play mechanic or game play error?

I was playing as algiers; was in a war with aragon over sicily; iberian wedding popped (aragon joined castile in union); i became neutral and the game forced peace with aragon (whom is in a PU with castile) and castile inherrited the war with the war goal being a neutral province that neither nation can take or control.

Was this meant to happen or what?

Not a tech support issue so moved to main forum. If the community agrees it's likely to be a bug, post in Bug Reports please.
