What happens when you try to start a new game? Does the game crash? Does it load forever but never finish? Does it load, but something is broken/not working?

You should remove these mods:
  • Pause on load - it was added to the game, so just enable the option instead.
  • More Beautification - it has some issues, so use Find It instead.
  • Ploppable RICO - use the newer Ploppable RICO Revisited instead.
  • Tree Brush - really old and you don't need it since you have Extra Landscaping Tools
  • Automatic Bulldoze - it's broken. I'm not sure which ones are working currently, but the version you have definitely isn't.
  • Network Extensions Project - broken and incompatible with Network Extensions 2. Always make sure to unsubscribe the old version of a mod, when you get the newer one.
  • All Spaces Unlockable - no need for this when you have 81 tiles
  • Move It! Extra Filters - outdated, those are in the Move It by Quboid.
  • Vanilla Trees Remover - you can use Prop It Up to remove trees. This one has some issues with other mods and I would recommend avoiding it.
  • Aedificium - broken. Also, hotloading is really not a good idea with Cities Skylines.
  • Theme Mixer - switch to Theme Mixer 2 instead.
  • Painter - remove it and use Repaint instead.
  • Advanced Toolbar - I recommend More Advanced Toolbar as a replacement

Then you have some incompatible mods, where you have to choose one and remove the others.

Pick either
- PostProcessFX - Multi-platform
or
- Dynamic Resolution and PostProcessFX v1.9.0
or
- Render It!

Pick either
- Disable Zone Check
or
- Plop The Growables
Read the descriptions of both mods and see which one has the best options for you. They do some slightly different things

Pick either
- Find It! (original by Boogieman Sam)
or
- Find It! Fix [TEST]

That might very well be the source of your problems, so try sorting those mods out and see if the game works. If you're still having problems, upload the output log again from that try, and I'll have another look. :)

I am now starting with -noworkshop launch option
On welcome screen I get error message [Failed generating error message]
In content manager all assets enabled
ALL mods disabled
Mods you mentioned completely removed from library
going round in content manager mods is very very sluggish, some time white screen "close program or wait til response"
memory use 8 gb
also main menu very sluggish now
start new game takes long time to load mem use 14 gb

when i end game and go to main menu error appears

The mods I listed are still showing up in your log. Did you unsubscribe them and restart the game afterwards? If yes, try logging out of Steam, shutting Steam down, restart Steam and log in. That should force Steam to update your subscriptions, so they are removed.

Force closed steam which kept saying please wait etc
All assets and mods are now gone from library and game seems to be running ok
Now how i get mods back again?

You subscribe to them again, just like you did originally. But only to ones that have been updated since the last game patch, and are not on Avanya's list of broken or incompatible mods.

It isn't really about age. It's about removing the ones that are broken. Are all the ones I told you to remove gone when you look at mods in the Content Manager? If yes, try starting a new game. Does that work? If not, upload the output log again, so we can see what happens.

Every time you try something new and it isn't working, upload a new log from that attempt. That's how we can tell what issues are solve and what ones are still there. :)

yeah did everything you said, cleared all out and is running. Gradually downloading mods and assests. So far so good..

You can see the last time it was updated by checking the workshop page of the mod. On the right, under the picture, it lists date uploaded and date updated.

You can also use this google sheet of known broken mods to avoid any that have been found to cause issues.
