I suggest the next patch focuses on rebalancing. In my recent games this has happened:

1) By 1500 the most developed provinces are those who will discover - but have not yet discovered - coal. That is weird.
2) By 1600 all provinces in the world have been colonized. That is way too early. Colonization needs to be harder/slower.
3) By 1700 all countries in the world have the same tech level, which they should not have. Institutions (and maybe monarch points) are too easy to get.

This sort of ahistorical development kinda ruins the game for me.

Edit:
4) Also there are way too many world trade centers (lvl 3 trade cities) in the game. It seems like it has become easier for the AI to develop provinces, so even what is supposed to be relatively small/poor provinces have their own world trade center by 1700 or so.

Mate, Westernization used to be mechanic in game, but paradox became too flakey and they decided that everyone is equal so now you only have inherent pip difference in unit types. They wont change that. As current history teaches, it doesnt matter if you have a spear in africa or machine gun in prussia. They do same damage (according to paradox).

@bidzapfc - in ~90% old westernization was non-profitable mechanism. I saw many AI westernized nations (X) destructed by non-westernized neighbors (Y). Because when nation X have spend monarch points to westernization, nation Y have spend monarch points to technology, ideas etc. So after all nation Y was few technological level higher than nation X. And more manpower, cash etc. because lack anti-westernize riots and events.

Current mechanism need deep upgrade, more limites for spread and locks about "upgrade by deving", but only non-rational peoples can believe that "old westernization was great".

I've always found myself in the middle, old Westernisation system wasn't ideal but there should still be one. Institutions were a step in the right direction but it's still lacking. Westernisation is far too important to just leave out.

in ~90% old westernization was non-profitable mechanism. - ok, that is what is was supposed to be, to simulate western world having a massive tech advantage

I saw many AI westernized nations (X) - establishing that you call Western nations as X

destructed by non-westernized neighbors (Y). - establishing that you call non western nations Y

Because when nation X have spend monarch points to westernization, - Here is the first mistake, as you claim western antions spend points to westernize

nation Y have spend monarch points to technology, ideas etc. - second mistake, you mean Western nation X instead

So after all nation Y was few technological level higher than nation X. And more manpower, cash etc. because lack anti-westernize riots and events. - Again, reversed it.

Current mechanism need deep upgrade, more limites for spread and locks about "upgrade by deving", but only non-rational peoples can believe that "old westernization was great". - Thank you for that assesment, and I stand by it. Having no inherent tech advantage of western nations makes no sense

This good enough? @Nephandus @moscal

his point was for westernized vs non westernized nations
not western vs non westernized
and he is correct. westernazation was a bad mechanic. you spent important resources and time that would leave you behind even more than if you didnt choose it. If you played as an american nation you were probably screwed most of the time. In other continents they had it easier but it was still hitting hard. It just felt misserable.
The institution mechanic is great but it needs update for sure.
