It is amazing how important the choice of music is in a game.

I hated the music in Cities XL. It reminded me of the gang infested rundown parts of town, and it altered my perception of the city, even when I'm in the more affluent areas.

I love the C:SL theme music. It is so optimistic and upbeat. It makes the city sound like a nice place to be (Almost like an optimistic 1950's documentary.)

Even in this detail, CO got it right

Yeah, I want something cheerful like the song "Feelings" (@ 05:09) from the Cities XXL soundtrack!!

Your 1950's documentary comment made me think of "Duck and Cover". A great documentary from 1951 with shiny happy music for the kiddies and a cool cartoon turtle named Bert. It was about nuclear annihilation.

For anyone interested:

Wow, I hope there are some grown-ups or older boys about if that should happen when I'm out riding my bike! I'd never seen the complete version of that before... interesting.

Of course these days educational music videos are a little more cheerful, but they're still a valuable way to increase personal knowledge:

Yeah CXL music was sad... limit awful.

The CXXL music is something they did well... at least one thing they managed to REALLY improve on.

These are not the sound tracks I remember from CXL.

Yup they made new music for CXXL, but it's one of the few thing that actually changed.

I think that's from CXXL, not CXL. CXXL is the sad update that has just been released as a 'wannabe' new title. They were just trying to upstage C:SL, and even their own community turned on them! But yes, there does seem to be some good music with it...

yes, I think they did a great job with the CSL music. it's good music for the background while you're building stuff.

wow, CXXL music is actually quite good.

Next one will be CXXL... with ten new songs and a midly but not that much updated engine and 5 new buildings...

But hey, it's better than Maxis future citybuilder, Simcities XS

Haha! 1x1 km squared cities.

hah, you can see on that promotional image of the CXXL that the game is "more of the same thing". The city is mirrored in the horizontal axis.

Wow... I hadn't caught that. They couldn't even make a complete image for their promotional artwork!!

Got burned twice by those guys... but not this most recent time.

I loved Simcity 4 soundtrack. That feeling of fast, industrial, brutal, huge city, not overly sweet peaceful hippie neighbourhood from SC5. I wish that in C:SL there'd be something similar

SC3 and SC4... best game music ever... you can find the sc4 music in your install folder (if you didn't know) and SC3 music can be found on the internet quite easily.

That "Sim City 6" picture is actually a shot from Sims 2. I am laughing so hard. (And I love Sims 2. And I'm still laughing.)
