Game launching but not showing

Hello all,

I hope I can get some help with this issue. The game is launching, I can hear the music, the game is open in the taskbar, but nothing happens if I click on it. If I try to launch it in windowed mode it´s just showing a white tab.

I already updated my graphic card drivers, .NET framework, my windows 10 is up to the last update. Before I used to play flawlessly the game but I just hard reset my computer because I upgraded some parts and I got an SSD.

I saw that some people had this same issue before but none of the possible solutions that I saw in the comments helped me

Any idea about what could be the issue?

In the game launcher set Display mode to borderless.

(run dxsetup.exe after extracting from this download)

Add imperator.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.

Also if you have the MSI Gaming App installed, disable it as it clashes with this game.

If that doesn't help:
DXDIAG is a program you run from a command prompt or the Windows start menu 'run' dialog box (or 'search programs' in Windows 7 or later). After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach your Documents/Paradox/Imperator/pdx_settings.txt.
From your Documents/Paradox/Imperator/logs/ folder, attach system.log .

Both games are working.

The game was working perfectly before formatting my computer.

Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

The other one didn´t change nothing from what I see.

But I have been trying different stuff and I finally made the game to work, but not properly, If I set the game to launch in windowed mode at 1280x1024 it loads, but if I try to change the resolution inside the game the game will bug and won´t show any change. I tried with higher resolutions but any of them are working.

Any idea?

Pretty much all resolutions possible between 1920x1200 (my native resolution) to 320x320

I don't know then, this one's got me.

In the nVidia Control Panel, Manage 3D settings, force imperator.exe onto the "integrated Intel" option in there. It will be slow of course but does it take the resolutions properly then? If so we probably have an nVidia issue.

Okay so it's not a video driver/card issue.

This only happened after a Windows Reset or clean install, is that right? On the same hardware it used to work on?

Clean install, I had my windows 10 installed on my old HDD and I moved it to my new SSD after formatting both.

All the hardware is the same (I play on a laptop) except for extra 16 gbs of RAM that I also installed.

If you exit Steam entirely and run imperator.exe by itself, do you see any message or error then?

Nope, just some of them showed that "a similar or newer version is already installed in this system"

I just tried launching the game that way and didn't work neither

I read some people claiming that the newer versions of the game won´t load on their computers, so I tried using previous beta versions and still same result

What caused you to do a Windows reset, were you having some problem?

I'd almost bet a clean wipe and reinstall of Windows will fix this though ... almost!

I had to reinstall windows because I wanted to move it from the HDD to the SSD.

I tried with many other games and all of them are working perfectly, this is the only game that is not working properly, so I don't think the reason is a windows malfunction.

I agree whatever the problem is, is only affecting this game so far as we know. That doesn't mean it has to be the game's fault though! Obviously if this was a game bu everyone would be getting it; there must be something unique in this computer/Windows setup that triggers the problem. Usually I can spot a likely candidate, but no luck so far here.

I see we haven't done a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-Imperator
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Imperator AND Documents/Paradox/Imperator folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add imperator.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular you need to make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam Imperator or Documents Imperator locations, before installing again.

If that still doesn't help, please attach here all files in the /logs/ folder that are over 0 bytes, thanks.
