Game Launcher not showing any DLC or Mods

Hey.

my EUIV Launcher isn't showing any DLC and Mods anymore.

I think it's since the last patch, didn't play for several days now.

I am using Win7 64 and playing on Steam.

Already reinstalled the game and tried to (de-)activate Steam Community and Cloud.

No effect so far.

The last time this happened, I could fix it by updating the mod I am using.

But this time, this didn't help either.

Could it be an incompatible DLC?

Did you also try to start the game without any mods running?

Make sure your dependencies are up to date, although I suspect you already have them installed as you were able to run the game earlier:
Download and run the http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=35, if this did not work download and run http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109
Download and run the Visual C++ 2010 installer: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5555
Download and run the Visual C++ 2010 SP1 installer: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=8328
When that is done, go to Windows Update and make sure you have downloaded and installed all updates Windows Update gives you.

If the above does not help, do a full clean install:
Important: Go to '..\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Europa universalis IV\save games\' and copy all the save games you want to keep outside the folder
* Uninstall Europa universalis IV.
Steam users: uninstall the game from within steam by right clicking on the game and select "Delete content"
* Go to the folder where you installed Europa universalis IV in, and check if the Europa universalis IV folder is removed. If not, delete the entire folder
Steam users: Installation folder can be found at: '..\Steam\SteamApps\common\'
* Go to '..\My Documents\Paradox Interactive\' and remove the entire Europa universalis IV folder
* Re-install the game - Make sure to install the game outside the 'C:\Program Files\' or 'C:\Program Files (x86)\' folders, as it can cause issues with permissions

Ah okay.

Well, I tried everything you told me, but to no effect.

The launcher still isn't showing any DLCs (I already removed all mods from the mod folder to make sure it isn't the mod that's messing up everything)

So far no good...

Another idea:

It might also have happened after I registered EUIV on your website, but I guess those two systems aren't connected...


Quick question:

Would it help if I would restart the PC after deinstallation?

Should not be necessary, however you could give it a try.

The clean installation, did you remove the document/paradox interactive/europa universalis iv folder as well?

Do you have any third party firewall or anti-virus software that could limit a programmes access to the Explorer?

Programs like Comodo Security Suite will default to block the EU4 launcher from accessing Windows Explorer, so it can't find your DLC or Mod folder (although thankfully it defaults to load all downloaded DLC). If this is the case for you, your choice is to manually allow the EU4 launcher unlimited access to the Explorer in your security suite every time we get a new patch, or uninstall the suite entirely.

Yes I deleted the folder, but I will give the Firewall thing a chance, since I DO use Comodo.

Both the Launcher and the actual .exe are fully allowed in Comodo, both for Internal and Internet connections.

The game worked perfectly fine for quite a while, why won't it work now anymore?!


Is there some other path the game is saving data?

A game cache in steam or in %user\appdata or something?

I had exactly the same problem, and I can promise you it is Comodo causing it. You need to green light it in every possible way and even then it can be temperamental. I know it's not good advice, but the only permanent solution is to uninstall Comodo.

But deinstalling Comodo is no option for me...

Still strange that it happened all of a sudden...

YES! It WAS the HIPS from Comodo. Now I only have to figure a way out to have it active without interfering...

YES! It WAS the HIPS from Comodo. Now I only have to figure a way out to have it active without interfering...

Make sure to add it to the exceptions in Comodo's HIPS where pussible (set is as 'trusted'). This hopefully should enable you to play the game without disabling the HIPS.
