Game keeps crashing while loading

So after a couple of months spent away from home, i got my pc back and along with it ck2
For some reason, a week after that (during which the game worked fine), the game just keeps crashing at various points during the startup, be it load databases, flags or straight out the Paradox logo. Anybody knows a fix? I tried reinstalling vcredist, reinstalling the game and also tried changing the resolution in the settings file.
(latest version, no mods nor DLCs).
EDIT: Apparently, while changing the settings file i deleted the 6 in 60 Hz, so it wouldn't work with fullscreen. I'm good at this usually, i swear.

Sounds as if you load mods with the game and these are incompatible by now. Uncheck all mods in the Mod tab of the game launcher then (edit: oops missed the info in brackets)

If that wasn't it, you could try deleting the CK2 folder in Documents completely (move out any mods or save files you want to keep).
Another thing to try is to do a "Verify integrity of game cache" in the Steam properties of the game and yes, even though you did a reinstallation.

...unless that settings file issue you mention in your edit is what caused you the trouble.
