I bought a new PC a few weeks ago and decided to try cities in motion with the last patch. Guess what the game is totally unplayable (and yes I have last drivers). A 4 years old computer run the game better than my new one. As I have read performance issue seems to be something stated by many players, you should start to do something about it if you don't want to lose customer. In the current state of the game I won't buy the extension even if I was planning to do so.

Core i7 2.2Ghz
GForce 555M
6GB Ram

There is clearly a problem with the way the game works, performance should not be better on an older PC.

I hope the dev team will look at it before doing an other expansion.

A loyal Paradox customer very disappointed.

PS : the game is great, but performance issue like that is not acceptable even with everything as low as possible it does not work.

Are you running the game on a Laptop? That graphics card sure sounds like one.

GForce 555M is a notebook graphics chip. Usually the manual of every game reads, regaarding minimum system specifications: "Notebook versions of these chipsets may work, but are not officially supported".

How do other games run on your notebook? Can you play games running on, say, the Unreal engine?

I can play game such as Shogun 2, Mass Effect 2, Dragon Age 2 etc... Don't get me wrong I like Cities in Motion but there is clear. Seriously a GT 555M should be good enough to run a gestion game...

Well, I'm running the game on a laptop inferior to yours and I'm not having too much trouble with performance, so the game is not only thing to blame here.

Yeah I know, I have a config clearly lower than that (four years older and also a laptop), which run the game perfectly. That's actually what I'm complaining about. A lot of player complain about performance which to me appear to be lack of compatibility with some hardware, which should be corrected and should not bring comment about "netbook" version not supported, as I think my config for a laptop is rather good (or at least good enough for this kind of game).

Edit : Again I played on a much older laptop and it worked perfectly, and I am able to run other game perfectly. The graphic card is pretty good and good enough for this kind of game for sure...

This game is a much heavier on the CPU than on the graphics card.

Does your processor have an integrated graphics chip? If so, make sure the game uses the nVidia card.

The game does not let you pick the graphic hardware (not even if you edit the setting file manually as there is no field for it) so if it was the problem I don't know how to solve it.

You can either set up which videocard to use in your bios or using the tools given for your videocards. If you don't need to save batterylife too much, you can turn off the integrated card completely (this also frees up RAM) in the BIOS...

Go to nVidia control panel > 3D options > select the nVidia card from the first drop-down list in general options. (Dedicated graphics card always has priority.)
Or, pick the other tab, add citiesinmotion.exe (located in steamapps/common/cities in motion in your steam folder) and set it to use the dedicated card.

If the game was trying to use the integrated video card, it would have crashed.
Integrated video cards are not supported.

Oh thank you, it solves the problem. I never seen such problem before. I went from 6fps to 180fps. Next time I will blame myself before blaming the game :s

If I wanted to do that with an ATI 3200 where would I look?
