Maybe AI doesn't understand when its population is against war especially in a high conscious nation?

And that in order to work... It has to develop Jingoism first before declaring war nilly willy.

I have had very little rebellions. I have kept my taxes generally low but even the countries I invade soon turn to absolute chaos after I make peace.

I do need to install the new patch though.

To those that say the mexicans were really difficult to beat, i beat them at the very beginning of the demo two times now sorta easily.

All u have to do is focus your entire army on their deathstack, follow sam houston around, and follow up your victories by chasing down and destroying their armies.

I never played Vicky, and all i did was use similar tactics to the ones i use in EU3.

Then again, it was Mexico. If other Great Powers could put up a fight like they did, it could be a real challenge when you face them.

It's my first game, but in the case of german unification it could easily be repeated. You only need to add the north german minors to your sphere of influence, which is easy, because Austria is doing not much against it. Then you need to beat denmark in a fast and easy war. To bad there is not difficulty-option at the start of the game.

I didn't read your whole post but as far as GER unfictation it is not super frequent as PRU forming, and exceedinly difficult if AUS does it.

Aus needs to take Prussian lands in the South in a war and it can form the SGF
Then it needs to take down Prussia from GP status and SOI the dozens of minors North.

For Prussia, it's not as hard but still requires AUS to be dormant which it is not.

Yeah this is pretty much it. They're not too hard.
You need to also be prepared to build up a larger military at the start and accept that you're going to go into lots of debt.

What I do find critical is that when the UK declared war on me, once they had done that, they merely attacked with a weak force from Canada, and sent little blockade fleets, which I was able to hunt down and destroy with ease. Far too easy - they never tried supporting their ships or challenging my main navies.

does dormant matter? He just beat Austria, France, and Scandinavia. Who cares if Austria is dormant or not.

Open up wordpad and manually set guarantees by GP's, manually increase your favourite opponents starting budgets and if you are savvy enough tinker with the pre-set AI preferences. Despite having no difficulty options in V2 Paradox games are very easy to modify, after looking at the screens and playing the demo i am personally glad i pre-ordered plus the graphics are ace!

Mexican Army got me this time around 1843.

I was planning on taking a couple of states plus california (I had rest of Modern USA), but my graphics card has trouble running at full speed while focusing the camera over land. This means that i was over the water to let time go by.

Unfortunately, i didn't notice that they attacked my biggest stack with an army 4 times my stacks size. I ended up reinforcing it, but as my 4-stacks of reinforcements arrived on the exact same day, the rest of the army that was already there surrendered. This means my 4-stacks in reinforcements got destroyed also. Lets just say i decided to just take California while i could and quit the war.

I don't know if anyone remembers, but when the original Victoria came out (either 1.0 or 1.1) it had some pretty major balancing issues as well. For instance, a friend and I basically steamrolled Europe (and then the world? I can't remember) with Denmark. I later did the same thing with Brazil. Money was way too easy to come by (a problem with capitalist income multipliers, if I remember correctly).

Anyway patches 1.2 and 1.3 came along and Victoria became a polished gem (especially after Revolutions).

I don't expect anything different here with VicII and I would much rather be in the game-balancing phase than the unstable game crashing lag ridden bloody mess of HOI3 1.1 at release.

So, about 1/2 hour to go!

The boxed version is 1.0, download and release-day patch are 1.1.

Trust me, 1.1 is significantly more difficult, especially the economy. Though, as with all games, it'll still be fairly easy-ish for an experienced player accustomed to the game.

LoL, people complaining about the GP being easy, and of them all, Prussia, I challenge you sir to declare war on Austria+France+Russia at the same time and see how easy it gets.

If you want a challenge in the economy, play Ecuador or Greece, then tell us if the games is easy.

I agree. I'm tired of seeing France conquer Tunisia and Spain take half of Morocco right off the bat. Obviously it wouldn't be bad if this happened eventually, but things just move too quickly as it is.

Why? What purpose does AI unciv Morocco serve in the game?

The only thing holding back the European powers against the uncivs should be their internal troubles, and the rivalry among each other. If Spain is domestically ok it should by all means try to gobble up as much territory as it can. And Morocco is just across the strait of Gibraltar.

Game balancing could be better I suppose (Morocco should be able to field a 40-50k army capable of keeping a non-mobilized 1836 Spain busy for 2-3 years) but Morocco and the North African uncivs really are sheep for the imperialist wolves. The game is about imperialism, it's a good thing that the Spanish (and Portuguese and French) AIs exploit their opportunities...

In real history Spain and Portugal only seriously considered imperialist expansion in North Africa in the late 19th century. Not sure why, but if they had considered it worthwhile, I suppose they could have invaded and conquered Morocco or Algeria, too, in 1836.

They didn't because the UK constantly slapped their wrists and forbade them to annex everything.
