I agree since it can't be a complete "sandbox" (I use that term loosely) in the beginning since some things have been established already.

To be fair, we need patches to: balance the system-breaks people will inevitably find as we have shedloads of people trying to min-max, and we need fixes for: fix/introduce several major processes which are off atm (e.g. unification of Germany, American civil war, peaceful acquisition of territories by the US); possible tweaks to the rebels / AI in order to fight the rebels; and a better set up / potentially some AI tweaks to reduce the number of wars by reducing the opportunities available for them to break out. It's not actually that many things for such a complicated game system :)

Personally I'd also close colonisation to any but Great Powers and bring in nerfs for historically shambolic countries like Spain, Portugal, Mexico, China. So add modeling internal divisions to our list :)

Oh, another thing to look at would be the cassus belli events that crop up. As US I don't want to acquire nonsensical CBs against central Asian and African tribes who have nothing to do with me or my actions - and I don't want CBs against Prussia either! They need to be tweaked to make more sense, I mean the "randomness" of insults and suchlike is fine, it's just the context and potentially the frequency...

as the developers have already noted, work on patch 1.2 has already begun.

So do you mean bureaucrats will be converted to clergy if they're not well paid?

That's what my wife keeps telling me.

Difficulty is always a matter of matching your experience level, the level of detail you play at, and the country you start with (though I can't understand why there isn't also something in options, if there isn't). I gradually work my way to weaker countries, or play less energetically. Then when I haven't played in a while, I fire up the game as France.

A player forming Germany early should not be a surprise, and it does not seem to have happened yet.

I think King is referring to the second half of the game, post 1880, when your tax collecting efficiency really does begin to equal the rate you set it at (right now you are likely below 50% efficiency, so alot of the tax rate isn't being collected, and goes back to your POPs pockets, giving them money to buy their needs they otherwise would not have) and your POPs end up having less and less income to buy their needs, resulting in a need to cut taxes to keep your POPs happy, while if you have social demand for reforms that do indeed cost a pretty groschen to fund, trying to square the circle becomes more and more and more difficult.

Rapid growth early in game can cause huge headaches as the generations pass, and as you are only 15 years into a 100 year game, you've got a long way to go yet.

People that are panicking, you are currently in panic mode, please stop. As for the easy French defeat, their army may have been primarily in the Mediterranean, or near Spain. So the Germans were probably only fighting a fraction of the French Army. If my demo games told me anything, it appears the AI has problems splitting stacks to handle multiple fronts. Perhaps there is too much money... but it is still playable.

One thing more, because some people around here told me I would get in trouble economically. That's not the fact. The economy is running with same budget-sliders since the beginning of the game. Even when fully mobilized, I am making a plus.

That's not your economy, that's just your government revenue.

Two thoughts:

First, a sample of one doesn't prove much. Especially since no two games are ever likely to play out the same way. Let's see how things look after a few days.

Second, the UK problems seen here certainly aren't universal. The UK AI seems to have done pretty well in some of the AARs we've seen so far.

Game needs to start with established SoI's and Guarantees of Independence to stop things like this happening (at least stop them happening without major wars kicking off).

I agree. I'm tired of seeing France conquer Tunisia and Spain take half of Morocco right off the bat. Obviously it wouldn't be bad if this happened eventually, but things just move too quickly as it is.

The UK does seem to rebel quite frequently but I have noticed this is entirely consistent with every other country that goes to war.

Maybe AI doesn't understand when its population is against war especially in a high conscious nation?

And that in order to work... It has to develop Jingoism first before declaring war nilly willy.
