Just wondering what people think of this idea ( and forgive if it's been discussed, I don't see it here when I searched). How about having systems which are unstable and have a chance of self destruction, where the decision to colonize or utilize the system has a degree of risk. Take red supergiants as an example. You can colonize the system, but there is a risk of supernova during the game. Thoughts?

Yes I had lot of fun with Space Empire 5's mechanic where you could manipulate stellar objects.

IE: De-stabilizing (space empire ftl is based on wormhole link between system aka Stellaris hyperlane) wormhole and rebuild or even go completely isolated.

Build stuff like dyson sphere/ring which Utopia will cover.

There were stuff like making star go supernova or create a new solar system out of nebula.

To just name a few.
