When I opeded the game to test, it closed. When the game closed, it asked if I wanted to solve the problems or test recommended opitions. I choose solve the problems, and it said it solved the problems, and asked to test. I ran the game with eu4.exe, and could create a game. I played 5 years and then needed to leave. When I opened the game again with eu4.exe, I couldn't load/create a game anymore.

OK, now try manually deleting the documents/paradox/eu4/gfx/ folder, then give the game another go.

And with all the changes, let's see a new set of information files after that please: post a dxdiag.txt (you can delete everything after the end of the "Sound devices" section for brevity) and your Documents/EU4/settings.txt. From your Documents/Paradox/EU4/logs/ directory, post system.log . Open setup.log in notepad and search for 'checksum', post that line only here too please.

That all looks good, except I'd make these changes in settings.txt

refreshRate=60

multi_sampling=0

If that doesn't help, in Steam go to eu4-properties-local files and click on Browse Local Files, you'll see eu4.exe there. Exit Steam, and right-click on eu4.exe, go to properties compatibility. Make sure nothing is selected in there, except tick the Run as Admin box and then click on Set for all users. Now run eu4.exe manually by double-clicking it (still with Steam unloaded). Any difference?

Also, look in the Windows Event Viewer - do the attempts to run eu4.exe show up in there?

Can you run CK2, or at least its demo, OK?

Do you have access to another machine to try the game on? Just to prove it's the PC and not your Steam account, say.
