My game will freeze sporadically, usually for a good five seconds or more. Almost making you think the game has crashed. I don't know why this is happening? I have a six-core processor and a 660 Ti graphics card. I should be able to run this game without a hitch.

And, describe the problem in more detail please. Does it recover by itself, or you need to restart the game? Can you move the mouse, toggle the caps-lock led, do anything, when it freezes? Does it happen on a particular date like first of the month or 1 January?

My CPU stays roughly cool as well (nothing really alarming). As far as the freezing goes I can only move the mouse, and can't interact with the game.

Yes it recovers by itself. And I will try everything you else said tonight when I play. I normally don't look at the date. But I will take note tonight.

With what is mentioned above, could you check the autosave interval? If I am right it saves at the beginning of each month, so if it happens on the date mentioned by Andrew it could actually be that the autosaving gives the small 'freeze'.

You can check the autosave interval in the settings menu btw.

My auto-save interval was every five years. I've been playing with the auto-save off for a day now. So I don't think its the auto-save.

When it freezes, I can toggle caps lock and the LED does go on and off. It first froze on in game date May 6th, 1071 (started in 1066), and froze again on June 11th, 1074. I quite shortly after the second freeze. So I dunno.
