Game freezes permanently (Win 8)

Hi there,

I just recently bought EU IV and whenever I try to play it the game freezes on completely random occassions. This can occur after as little as 2 or after up to 30 minutes. The longest I was ever able to play was roughly half an hour. The screen just freezes, nothing is clickable anymore. I can't even properly access Task Manager anymore so I'm forced to shut down the whole machine.
I did already check for missing files with Steam and did a quick Google search which showed no suitable results.


I'm playing on Windows 8 64bit. I can provide a dxdiag and crashlogs (if someone tells me where they are) if needed.

please post a dxdiag.txt (you can delete everything after the "Sound devices" section for brevity), and your EU4 settings.txt, system.log and error.log files (you'll need to rename the .log files to .txt to upload). Also open setup.log, search for "checksum", and paste that line only in here.

Please report the temperatures of your CPU and video (GPU) 1/ before starting the game up and 2/ after say 20 minutes' play. If your PC's vendor has given you no way of reading temperatures, install GPU-Zand CPU-Z, or SPEEDFAN.
