Good evening.

Description of problem:
Game crashes at startup.

What game version are you running?
2.0.1

What platform are you playing on?
Steam

Please select any/all DLC you have enabled.
Deluxe Edition, Hellenistic World and The Punic Wars.

Do you have mods enabled?
No

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
I just buy the game, I've tried to launch it but the game crashes after the first loading screen.

I have tried a full "clean" re-install as recommended:

- "uninstall" in Steam-Imperator
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Imperator AND Documents/Paradox/Imperator folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add imperator.exe to the exceptions list of my antivirus app.
- start the game with no mods active.

But now when I hit the button start nothing happens and this message appears on the side of the button "game launch failed".

Since this does'nt work for me, I have edited the pdx_settings.txt as recommended and run as administrator, but nothing works.

Here are my DxDiag.txt and pdx_settings.txt.

Thanks for helping me !

You are missing some MS DLLs in Windows:
Windows Error Reporting:

Nom d’événement : APPCRASH

P2 : 1.0.0.0

P4 : VCRUNTIME140_1.dll
Please go here:
And run the x86 and x64 installers there.

That should do it for you!

Thank you for your response.

I've reinstall all Visual C++ but it does'nt solve my problem. The launcher doesn't do anything but I can access the loading screen before it crashes if I use the imperator.exe directly.
Here are the exception.exe and the pdx_settings.txt from the crash entry.

Thank you for your help.

No new clues in those files I'm afraid. Are you still getting those crashes in that VC++ DLL in dxdiag?

I've this crash report:

Event name: RADAR_PRE_LEAK_64 is not a crash I'm afraid. It just means that Windows has detected that the app MAY have a memory leak. But this game does not of course, and if it did it wouldn't prevent the game from loading at all.

So it seems we've fixed that missing DLL problem but there is some other issue now. I see many Windows Update errors in that dxdiag, what happens when you run the Update app?

And what antivirus app do you use? The game is now getting a c0000005 error which is typically an AV app getting in the way.

I have an optional update for an old printer witch cause these errors in my dxdiag, I've no major updates to do.

I was using Windows Defender (where I add imperator.exe to the exceptions list) so I tried to switch to Avast and i've done a full "clean" install. Now I can launch the game from the launcher, but it stop anyway and a message box appear to send a crash report. I've also add imperator.exe to the exceptions list of Avast. I've even tried to install and launch the game without any antivirus active.

Now this is a dxdiag after imperator crash, I don't find any reference to IR and the only error is a WLANExt.exe. It could be it?
The exception.txt into the crash report show me the same c0000005 error.

That is a part of Windows to do with wireless lans. Nothing to do with the game as such.

I'm really not sure what is causing this problem on this computer, I'm sorry to say. I don't suppose you were considering going to Windows 10 any time soon? If so this might be a great time for that!
