Pilgrims,

As has been announced in various channels, we have tonight wiped the Plymouth server clean, and generated a new map. Let me first of all thank you for your kind assistance in the development of Salem over these past months. I hope you have enjoyed it as much as we have. Thank you.

This reset brings a few changes, some more important than others. The first, and most important change, is that we will be migrating away from the Paradox forums and account structures, and set up a platform of our own. In the future, you will find Salem at:

http://login.salemgame.com

Where you will also find links to the brand new forum we have established for the purpose. The web platform is very bare bones at the moment, but it should be fully functional.

Important: TRANSFER YOUR ACCOUNT!

In order to keep using your present account information you need to "Transfer old Paradox account" over at login.salemgame.com. This will set up a new account on our servers which is effectively a copy of your Paradox account. (All alpha accounts will however work as are). You need only do this once, and thereafter you should be able to login using the account.

Silver now possible to buy

Another important thing to note is that it will, after this reset, be possible to purchase ingame silver using real world currency. You will find a convenient button in the game client should you wish to do so. Any silver purchased can be found in and withdrawn from your account in the Boston bank.

Game Changes

There is now a variance penalty to studying inspirationals of the same type over and over again. If you do so, your learning ability will be reduced, and modify any Learning points you acquire from such inspirationals. You can restore your learning ability by studying a type of inspirational that you haven't studied before since your last level up. Increasing a proficiency or buying a skill (leveling up) will reset the learning ability.

The map has been gifted with a few new natural objects.

-------------

If all goes according to plan this reset should be the last full reset we do on Salem. The present Beta phase is referred to internally by us as "closed commercial beta", and we aim to gradually transition it to "open beta", as soon as we have support for multiple servers -- our present work in progress -- required so as to be able accomodate the expected influx of users that that should bring.
After that, we should be able to dedicate ourselves more fully to bringing you new industries, monsters, late-game content and other nice things.

Thank you all players for your patience with us,
Thanks to the mods and admins here at the Paradox forums for their patience with us and our players,

We hope to see you all over at the new forums, and in the New World.

Long live the King!

Yours truly,
/Björn, Jorb, Beanieman, Brother Bean, &c&c.

The button to buy silver is very big and annoying, is there a way to make it go away? Also, is there some button im missing to make these tips stop?

I think your prices are a bit high. Backpack cost $10 :/

The typical "buy" items are still listed at the Company Store still, so there's always that method of gaining silver.

edit: it's only $5 if you buy $100 at a time....

That doesnt really attract people much unless you are playing long for sure or youre rich enough.
Especially when you know a backpack isnt supposed to be something very hard to craft later on.

There should be a cheap "beginner kit" sale for like $10 that includes a backpack, a purse, and maybe some few coins for a trip to wilderness (before having survival skill or for relocating) and a dose of antidote.

Setting silver price high will give enough room for hidden gold farmers to prosper secretly.

Personally, I just wanted to give some money to support the dev team, I'm not all too concerned about the value of the silver, just want the game to keep going :)

That was a bit tongue in cheek and not meant to be taken seriously. I wouldn't be surprised if a couple people haven't paid that already, though.

My opinion on the Silver prices are the same as many, it's too goddamn high. I'm not a buyer, most likely, because I like to play with the difficulty the game brings, but I'd bet you'd be better either halving those prices or introducing a new currenty that can be changed with silver and be used for cosmetic items. For example, a 20 gold hat that can be created with a lot of resources, or with 60-80 silver (1:3 gold:silver ratio).

Also, the paypal page uses a fixed language instead of redirecting to your own locale or staying in English. Could that be fixed?

Looking for place to settle without knowledge about purity/quality nodes suck a lot:/
Maybe Devs could modify little code to show us purity values and still turn off bonuses?
I know they are still working on it, but it would be nice to show us even normal, better, good, very good, you found eden instead of numbers:)

There will never be purity nodes again. So if that is what you are waiting for to settle, dont worry about it and just find yourself a good spot.

What? How? Why? Wtf?
Any more information please.
They will not be adding purity nodes, instead they will be adding other means to improve purities via crafting etc.

So you can settle anywhere.

ALSO, why are people still posting here when we have a whole new Salem forum?

because (unless i tired wrong) you can not register over there with out a beta account.
Correct. You have to have a beta account to register. If you do have a beta account, then make sure when you're logging in you are entering your user name as it appears here. The field is case sensitive!

ALSO, why are people still posting here when we have a whole new Salem forum?
Paradox will continue to support Salem and provide a place to discuss the game being published. The rules will remain the same as always: be respectful, etc. In a game like Salem, there can be a lot of politicking and drama. There needs to be a place for the general public to do this, which is what the new forums will be mostly for.

Makes sense.

I also didn't realise before only beta participants could use the new forum.
