Game CTD with the latest 2.2 patch

Had the game for over a month and I started an ironman game of which I am still playing. I haave had no problem whatsoever untill now. I am running Win 7 64 bit and my PC specs are well capable of running the game and as said I had no problems.

Since the 2.2 patch I have started two games and had two CTD's at various points. The first time I was about an hour in on my saved game and decided to borrow some money off the Jews and then it crashed, a message saying 'CK2 has stopped working' the second game which I played tonight I was nearly 2 hours in and clicked on my icon in the left corner and got another error message 'CK2 has stopped working'.

I would assume it was the patch doing this as before I could play for 4 or more hours and never experience any CTD whatsoever, will this be fixed? Also is it worth using the 2.16 beta untill it is fixed?

Would I have to start a new game as my save game is older, would that cure it? I do not have all the DLC but have most of it. I was thinking of getting the Charlemagne DLC but am starting to think it might not work properly?

There are a couple of new crashes in 2.2, one to do with the Religion tab for instance. They will be fixed, obviously.

But it's not clear to me if that save you have this issue with is new with 2.2 or an older one. If older yes you are better continuing it with 2.1.6 .

My issue is with 2.2. My save was made before 2.2 and worked perfectly but after 2.2 I had two CTD's in two games after playing for an hour or so. I did put up a more detailed explanation here but it has gone for some reason.

Well, as I say, games started with 2.1.6 are probably best continued with that version.

Also there is now 2.2.0.1 available in the Steam beta tab, which fixes a lot of issues with 2.2 .

Personally, I would love to go back to 2.1.6, but unfortunately I don't think that's possible because Ironman.

My game is Ironman too, would 2.2.0.1 be safe to use then? I am happy to use it if it is. I nearing the end of my game and don't wish to muck it up.

Should be

It should be fully compatible.

In general i'd say 2.201 isn't less safe to use than 2.2.
