Game Crashing a lot lately for me

Hang on, shouldn't corrupted saves cause immediate crashing?

Nope, manual saving does not help as it will still after considerable in game time corrupt the save file and in doing so automatically crash the game, only reverting to older patch works.

Yeah this just started happening to me as well, since there has been no hotfix for this crap yet that tells me Paradox has no clue what's causing this yet.

Paradox just found out what was causing the random crashing yesterday, it has to do with retinues. I ran a test without retinues and so far I have yet to crash. The autosave crash has not been discovered yet.

Well, at least there's some progress. Haven't been able to resume any of my saves since this patch screwed it all up :/

The problem is that the error is severe enough that it probably cant wait until the next patch, when people cant play past 100-200 years on vanilla without crashing, that is a serious issue that warrants a hotfix.

I had this problem originally and it stopped when I reinstalled the game via steam although that messed up the checksum for me for some reason. after much validating I got the checksum back to ICBN and the crashing too seemed to have stopped but as I mentioned elsewhere the new was unexpected slowdown and stuttering of the game. I felt frustrated but at least the crashing had stopped; that is until yesterday when I got to 1221 and the ilkhanate invaded and the game began crashing on top of the other issues but this new crashing is different in that the old crashes always had an error popup saying: "CK2 has encountered an unexpected error and needs to close" this new problem just suddenly exits to desktop. I am getting very frustrated that I cannot play a vanilla game from start to finish without massive issues.

The same thing happened to me a few weeks ago. I thought it had to do with a mod, but disabling it did not stop the problem. Auto-saves don't seem to be an issue, but was a solution found for the retinues issue?
