Well hello again - it seems there is an issue with a Steam update making europa engine games - e.g. FTG, AOD, DH crash on start up.
Any solution in sight?

The Steam forum gave a link which worked, but in any case I gather Steam has now done another update which corrects whatever they did wrong before.

Glad to hear it. Sorry for not responding before; I was out of town and I don't have a Steam copy of the game anyway.
