Game crashes after a few in-game years or when saving

So I've had CK2 since it came out, but I haven't had a problem until about 5 months ago. The problem is that after either a few in-game years (anywhere between 1 to 5, usually), or when I try and save, the game crashes and boots me off CK2. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, I have tried playing without any mods or DLCs, I have tried different scenarios, none of it works. There isn't even an error message, it just kicks me off the game.

I'm not sure exactly what to do.

EDIT: Nevermind, I did the solution that AndrewT recommended, and it works so far.
