Game crash on start - Steam

I have been playing the game with zero issues until now. I played the other night, and then shutdown the game and computer normally.

Fired it up this morning before work, and the game constantly crashes at start up.


"Europe Universalis IV has stopped working - A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notfity
you if a solution is available."


I haven't tinkered with anything since the last time I played.

Windows 7 Pro.
Steam

DLC
Art of War
American Dream
Conquest of Paradise
Res Republica

I haven't uninstalled and re-installed everything yet, which would probably work. I don't know why it stopped working all of the sudden.

Could it be Art of War, which I have only had for a few days?

I get this error too but I get around it by launching EU4 using the eu4.exe, instead of opening it via Steam. You can also disable the launcher in Steam by putting -nolauncher in the steam launch options.

In the Steam beta tab opt into the new 1.8.1 beta and let it update - see if that helps.
