Game crash on save when you hold too many title

I have a game were I play as France. I went on a conquering spree and have most of europe + byzantium . Me and my uncle (i'm his heir) heir are holding all the duke titles.

I keep all the kings title for myself, I got 20-30 of them and I give the duke to my uncle as I need to decrease badboy (what can I say, I'm a bad exploiter, but that's not the point here).

At one point i'm holding around half of the duke title and my uncle the other half, and I can save my game fine.

If my uncle die, I inherit fine (well with the quirky window when you have too much to inherit but that's not too bad) but then the game crash when I save the game.

I seem to have a similar problem but with not nearly as much titles as Thanak.

I do have, however, a whole string of claims. Many of which are undoubteble doubles. Maybe that's a cause?

EDIT: I tried removing all the claims my ruler had. That's not a problem, only tedious. However, it does NOT stop the game from doing a CTD upon save.

Now trying to recreate the situation from an earlier save.

EDIT 2 : problem is back. Have 2 corrupt saves and 1 non-corrupt (original).
Opened all three to see if I could find something that might be causing this (other than the titles speculation) but was unlucky. However, I did notice that both the corrupt saves break off somewhere in the section where all the claims are, and at the same piece of text no less (in this case "tag = SAME") whereas the non-corrupt save ends with text about combat.

I can reproduce that problem at will.

I does seems to be related to the number of title you hold... maybe there is a max lenght to the string when it write in the save file...

Anyway I have a savegame that has this problem if you want.

ARGH! Started out with King of Scotland, now King of Lithuania and King of Welsch, and I cant save games past some point in time nomatter what I do. Make peace, disbandon all armies, put a bra on monitor, nothing works.

I uninstalled, did a clean install then patched 1.03b, reloaded saved game and CTD.

I remember this happening playing the scottish before, I gave up and played something else. Somethings wrong with the Scots.

Hi,

I had the same problem playing Duke of Flandres with patch 1.03b.
And 'only' with 10-15 duke titles (no kingship) and a domain of 8.
But with a lot of claims and 65 vassals.*

I didn't find any solution yet ..

but i've never installed the 1.03a.
i've the 1.03b on a clean setup and my game still crash when i hold 2+ kingdoms.
so, i can't play a game that, from a certain point, i must edit the savegame file to prevent from crash.
please, fix this bug quickly

This is odd. I have no problm holding 7-8 kingdims in my current game...

Do you have a save with reproduceable crashes like this? If so: havard @ crusader-kings.com

Yes i've the save file (not with me at the moment), but it's about 30Mb and i don't have a high speed connection.

Using WinRAR on a 30 MB save (max compression) I get it down to 1.6 MB....

I have had a similar problem.

I am running 1.03b (installed from clean disk install - no previous versions used).

Running as Byzantium and have a large number of king + duke titles (Southern Italy/Egypt/Middle east/Mesopotamia/Georgia + original area) and a large desmesne (about 36 counties at 100% due to high stewardship). No problems saving at all.

However when I die, my son inherits and has all those titles, plus his own which means now a total desmesne well over 40.

I tried to save before I pared back his desmesne and got the crash/corrupt save file, so I had to go back to last good save.

Next time I am planning to farm out the desmesne first and see if it makes a difference.

I´ve had three CTDs (today) while saving. It was three totally different scenarios...and I´m playing with a clean 1.03b installation.
Note that I only was a Count (with like 4 counties) so I didn´t have a lot of titles or something like that.

You have the problems because you started with 1.03a...

The problem is the dyn = 0 characters.
Change them all to dyn = 708
