I've copied these from some site but I edited some fails a bit. I haven't tested them all and I actually don't know the ones that give charisma. Who does it give? probably King but anyway. Some ones like 3143 are eeextremely useful sometimes

EDIT: damnson, V-Bulletin forum doesn't like multiple spaces.. to clear it the cheat is "event <number>" and the effect is after that
EDIT2: Forgot to tell, these are for Rome 1.3 I think they work with VV too but it may have more useful events. And Cheexta's link is good Also, why to hesitate start random cheating? just type "Event <random number> and hope that the number has some event

Does anyone know of a way to mod a decent research cheat? Events 2804, 2600, 2704, and 2506 are fine and good, but if you want to get more than 3 levels ahead of the curve you have to spam the heck out of them.

You are forgetting 2904 which is for naval tech xD
I'd say change it in save file. It's probably faster to reload the game after changing in savegame than spamming those little investments. Because they're events that are supposed to be triggered in-game, not cheats actually

I have been trying to press ~ or Alt 21 but in my version (Rome Gold) it doesn't work. Any other way to provoke "events"

The 21 has to be pressed on the numpad, not the normal numbers. So, remember to activate NumLock first, or if you're using a laptop you have to hold down the Fn key at the same time.

If you're using a European keyboard layout, then you might even have a § button somewhere - just press that instead.
