Love the improved performance, love the disease/hospital/prosperity content.

But the CM start date and TOG start date are terribly balanced. (I havent tried the later start dates so i cant comment though I assume some of the same problems carry over)

Prosperity means big blobs are even more powerful now, the Byzzies can rock 30k troops pre-1000 AD.

The Muslim Blobs are even worse the Abbasids can reclaim the old Caliphs borders and some.

Im really confused because the start dates feel so broken that if they were played by anyone it was in Britian or Scandinavia.

Im glad the Norse got some more stuff but is there going to be any chances of re-vamping the start dates and improving game play balance?

Careful though they start to nerf prosperity or wide empire's prosperity / potential for prosperity, then you risk actually separating the tall and wide game.

And I think the freedom to mix and match wide and tall strategies and play styles is something very good about this game.

I've kind of thought to myself is there any separation between tall and wide in this game? No not really.

Nothing prevents me from building my domain up while pursuing wider conquest over the course of the years. It has always been my thought that the taller you are the wider you are able to become, leveraging advanced demesne to control more vassals.

Conclave did diminish this, but in a way also made being tall even more important.

The Reaper of course entirely redefined the tall gameplay of this game.

Maybe it needs tweaking, but with all of the challenges of being wide let's not limit the wides too much.

Though I have definitely seen pre 2.6 Byzantine Empires with 30k troops at me before the year 1000.

You should consider that prosperity just get to lv 3 (or not?) and it increases the chance of disease outbreak a lot.

I'm playing as a norse pagan in the earliest bookmark.

-France keep imploding every 10 to 15 years, as soon someone reunite it, a revolt start and them some disease kill half of the ruling dinasty.

-The Byzantines and the Abbasid are in a 1:1 balance. Everytime they go to war is mostly a dice roll of mamluks vs variegan guard to determinate the winner.

-In peace time diseace outbreaks in their territories are almost constantly.

-The abassids are having a ridiculous amount of revolts everytime they are at peace (crown authority, independance, etc) and the bizantines are still torn apart in iconoclast vs orthodoxs internal problems.

But is still 870 in my game... maybe later it will be more problematic.

Any way, as long as prosperity just get to lv 3, is not a big deal, if it was a bigger number like 10 or more, and after 150 years Constantinople, Bagdad or Paris were constantly at lv 10 that could be a problem, but for now, I think is under control. And don't forget, when the Black death appears (arround 200 years from game start), all the "prospering" provinces will be turn into graveyards ;)
