hmm... but using keyboard or mouse is just distracting from the game i think. fake-seamless is an elegant solution to this problem. just make it optional... using the mousewheel is much more intuitive.
I agree, using the mouse wheel to zoom in and out (i.e. transition between system and galaxy map) would be really nice - even if it's two completely different maps in reality.
Because all other Paradox games are on ONE map. Stellaris has multible maps. The reason? 1000 start systems WITH planets would be way to much to handle for a galaxy map. It's much easier to make each star system a own map.
