Hi there,

one thing about the UI bothers me but seems easy to fix:

Seamless zoom between map and galaxy map.

You Can click on things in the galaxymap and get instant zoomed on it. But why cant you just zoom out on the zoomedmap and autoswitch to galaxy map? You have to click every time on the button...
Just add a little "resistance" when zooming out, like in other games, so that you dont accidently switch.

Thanks for considering.

Seamless zoom is a feature you find in pretty much every space game out there these days. Distant Worlds, Sins of a Solar Empire, you name it.

I suspect this is result of fundamental game structure. In Stellaris the system maps are seperate instances from the galaxy map, sort of like battlefields in total war games. DWU meanwhile has the systems as seamless parts of the galaxy.

Id be interested in the reasoning from the devs behind not having seamless zoom in the first place.... every other Paradox game has it. I guess it could be a performance issue?

It doesn't really have to be "real" seamless zoom anyway. The double click to zoom in is fine, but for zoom out I'd be happy with just an automatic switch once you reach the lowest zoom and then a little more scrolling. It's pretty much "fake" seamless zoom but makes life a lot easier.

Exactly. Even if the act of scrolling out further while in zoomed out system view has the same effect as pressing the 'm' key, it would be so much easier than having to press a key every time.

It's not. Every single time you switch from system to galaxy view, you have to press "m".
I'm pretty sure you're wrong. I remember in the Quill video from a long time ago he does, in fact, zoom out using the mouse wheel. I don't think he zooms back in with it (that has more issues programmatically speaking), but I'm pretty sure you can go System -> Galaxy via mouse wheel. Just because Wiz prefers to click the button in the streams doesn't mean its the only way.

No other paradox game has separate maps from the world map. The system maps and galaxy map are separate things.

Every other Paradox game has seamless zoom. So Im interested in why this one doesn't...

If so that would be great. Really odd Wiz prefers the m key then.

I can already say that I will prefer the m key as well, and I have never liked the whole using the mouse scroll to get access to the map etc. I mean if you want to use the map then it should be you have to press m on the keyboard for the map, especially when there are games out there where you have to press m on the keyboard to bring up the map

Every other Paradox game has seamless zoom. So Im interested in why this one doesn't...

I believe the term "seamless" here is meant to describe the process of going from one map to another (system to galactic in this instance). What Sindai said about no other paradox game having two completely separate maps (not just different map modes like in EU4) means that there is no seamless transition. The scrolling may feel seamless between the different zoom levels in EU4 but there is no transition from one map to another like we have here in Stellaris.

You can press 'm' too to switch.
Zooming out from System Map back to Galaxy Map was mapped to M or E... but I'd much, much rather use mouse wheel up.
