That probably feels off, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's WAD for galaxy generation to have a chance to not spawn X thing, including strat resources.

That probably feels off, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's WAD for galaxy generation to have a chance to not spawn X thing, including strat resources.
I can understand all the other resources but terra gases and liquids are both necessary to access other techs. Same with alien pets (xeno zoo tech). Why include techs that the player will never be able to use?

And I'm very very late game so pretty sure it never spawned at all.

Is this a bug? Because now I can't use the Gaia world tech. Kinda feels buggy

can You provide a save? I can easily say if there are any resources liquids in the galaxy according to the savefile.
might help in deducing none are present or something else is going on.

What galaxy size are you playing? If it is small or tiny i can easily imagine the rng failing to give you it, I've definitely noticed that terraforming gasses seem rather rare compared to liquids.

Also if you have bumped up the habitable worlds ratio then this could also have affected things, as the terraforming resources only spawn on uninhabitable worlds (gas giants and frozen worlds IIRC).

If this is a non ironman game you can open the console and type in "resources", without quotation marks. That will give you a list of all the strategic resources in the galaxy.

I've definitely noticed that terraforming gasses seem rather rare compared to liquids.

This data is from 100 galaxies, 600 systems everything default (random starting emprie). 1.4 patch. Averages are shown with standard deviations.


gasses are a little more rare it would seem then fluid or so it would seem. However given the sample size and variance of the sample it is not possible to conclude if gasses truly are more rare than fluids.

This is of course only data from a 600 size galaxy with default settings, so if any setting is changed the number will be different even trends might be different.

And out of the entire huge 100-system galaxy, they were the only ones with it.

Had that happen with an awakened xenophobic empire, but with zro. 15 pockets of it all swallowed up; the rage was enough for me to call a crusade. I wonder if there's a way to make distributions more even?

Haha. I actually quite like it. Makes the strategic resources all that more....strategic :)
I agree, distributing strategic resources in certain chunks of the galaxy rather than spreading them out over the entire place makes them much more strategic. A matter of chance and something you should take advantage of in trade, whether for the sake of getting other strategic resources or for getting positive opinion with another empire

Do you have a mod that increases anomaly spawning? Anomalies can wipe out a lot of strategic resources when they "clear_deposit" to add "d_vast_society_deposit" or whatever.

My current game (1000 stars) galaxy has one, single dark matter deposit and an anomaly just erased the only lythuric gas deposit.
