First of all, I am very thankful that the devs included the option to turn off guaranteed habitable starting planets. This was a feature I suggested a while ago, and I really appreciate the devs actually taking such requests into account. Alas, there seems to be some wonkiness in terms of the distribution of habitable planets.
Before 2.2, I used to play with 0.75 or 0.5 habitable planets, as I felt there were too many when using the standard setting. To accomodate for the lack of guaranteed planets, I set the multiplier for habitable planets to about 1.5 to 2 in 2.2., but it seems they are distributed very unevenly. There seem to be densely packed areas with many habitable planets, sometimes even two or three in the same system, and then there seem to be vast regions with no habitable worlds whatsoever.
Now, this is kind of to be expected since those habitable worlds are supposed to be distributed randomly, and I don't know if the underlying algorithm is indeed working without any weightings.. An option to distribute habitable worlds at least somewhat evenly would be much appreciated. I am not talking about a completely even and "balanced" distribution, but the current galaxy generation spawns them very lopsided, at least in my experience.
