What stellaris lacks now is espionage. What we need is a way to spy on friends and foe to know the strength of fleets and the amount of defensive armies in their planets this can be coupled with counter espionage and it can have its own tech tree and a way to steal research from advanced ai starts. The only thing we know before going to battle is if the fleet of our adversary is superior or inferior having a estimate of ships can drastically increase the chance and the excitement of battle. Also we can plat spies and puppets in alien governments to influence our opinion. I think that espionage would add a lot to stellaris what do you guys think /

I would like to
1) spy on.. setup of enemy fleets. i.e. their weapons/defenses used.
2) create and then support rebel factions within enemy empires
2.1) general factions affecting governmental traits
2.2) factions supporting liberation of planets/species
2.3) factions fighting for policies (i.e. to allow migration, to allow AI, to allow purging, etc)
2.4) factions to overthrow the leader (would be useful against empires with heirs, and leaders in charge for 40-50 years)
3) spy to get an overview of the enemy's planet (buildings, pops+their happiness)
4) spy on enemy leaders and have an ability to assasinate/kidnap them or bribe them to join me

This would be effective once they implement the feature where the slave faction can rebel once this is done then every slave empire will be devastated
