Hello all,

I may have missed this somewhere, but how does a horde faction gain land? I'm playing as the Timurids, and I've managed to sack all of the cities in Delhi that are needed to form the Mughal Empire, but the last city is in Rajputana, and because they do not border me, I cannot go to war with them. So, how would I gain the one province that I need to end up at war with them?

Horde nations are currently unplayable...
They merely function as an NPC obstacle/buffer for the AI.

Maybe, but the form Mughals decision was changed spefically to allow a Timurid -> Mughals conversion (you now only need to control, not own the required provinces).

I'd just wait and hope to get a border with Rajputana, don't know if there's a smarter way. Good job on all those CountrySummaries by the way, Zach the Lizard :)

That's pretty much what I've decided to do. Unless you can annex a vassal (haven't tried yet, will probably try later), that seems like the only thing you can do. I edited the save to give me the province in question, and enacted the decision to see the effects. I can say that it doesn't get rid of a tribal succession crisis (don't know if that's WAD).

Good job on all those CountrySummaries by the way, Zach the Lizard :)

Thanks :) I was getting ready to update that template for a version, too, but you beat me to the punch. I figured the Wiki needed at least a tiny update now that there's a new expansion.

You're entitled to your opinion. But...

1. You can take land from all the other hordes, potentially building a huge empire
2. Once you have a border with all five provinces needed you can form the Muhgal Empire - thus no longer have the horde limitations

they are playable...to a certain extent. You just need to survive long enough to westernize and reform gov't. Which sounds really boring considering the position of their sliders.....

but I agree it is a very unenjoyable game to play as horde.

Yeah, but historically hordes could and indeed did take land from civilized nations. That's why this restriction seems very odd. Civilized nations can take land from hordes by colonization - why not add a decolonization process of some kind? Perhaps make it difficult and restricted to provinces with low base tax or whatever.

1. So when it comes time to westernize you're sitting on 100 provinces full of crap, and skyrocketing stab costs? fun
2. Why does every horde nation need to form Mughals to do anything? Yay for Kazan forming Mughals...

Sounds pretty historic to me for the hordes. And if you want to westernize, keep small, take only key provinces, focus on trade, get a western neighbour, tech, switch, etc. I know this is hard work but why should it be easy?

2. Why does every horde nation need to form Mughals to do anything? Yay for Kazan forming Mughals...

If you don't want to form Mughals, don't. No one's forcing you.

I agree. But I will counterargue that the Timmies have it pretty easy. No stab costs nor penalties to completely reorganize their governments, move capitol, or change their ways of life. Seems a bit counterintuitive seeing as all the other countries have so much crap thrown at them in their bid to compete realistically with the rest of the world.

If you don't want to form Mughals, don't. No one's forcing you.

Mughals have a pansy color anyways.
Maybe instead allow the Tatars to form a Tataran, Muslim Russia or something along those lines (I know it sounds dumb). A unification event for those nations that can't really snake their way down to Mughal land, or form Persia.

My god if this game crashed at the end of every ingame year you would try to rationalize it as a feature. Why can't you handle some simple constructive criticism and fix the game instead of rationalizing bad decisions.

Because not everyone thinks it was a bad decision. I don't. I think the hordes can use a little work, but the basic idea, I like.

In fact, I mod the hordes to make them even less playable; giving them a missionary penalty, missionary chance penalty, and magistrate penalty (though a nice morale boost).
