Hello!

I am playing as Sweden and I always lose my head army against the Prussian (even I have 20k more men but that is another story) and it takes ages for me to build a new army because I get so small amount of manpower.

Can I do something so I get more manpower? I have tried to build ports and depots but I don't get more manpower even when I build ports and depots in regions with manpower gain.

I think it would be better if the buildings was like: Gives you 100 more manpower every month for exampel (Ports). So you know exactly what the building do because now, I have no idea why I build or what I build a building for.

(I have maybe totally wrong but I have not played the game so much. If I have wrong, sorry)

I don't know how much manpower depots add, but I'm pretty sure the cleared/developed/civilized upgrade path increases the raw manpower of the province by 10% additive at each stage (so 30% max). You may consider doing this if you have high manpower provinces which are not yet fully developed. However, to me this seems like it's usually an extremely high cost for not much benefit. For example, the final stage of development costs 1000 ducats or something, and if you build it in a province with 500 manpower, that means it only gains you 50 manpower per year.

A much more effective way to get more manpower is to conquer it. Click around in the city provinces of your neighbors to see their (annual) manpower value. Capital cities seem to have high concentrations of manpower, even for small nations.

I have played most of a campaign as sweeden. I also notice that I have constant manpower issues. Basically I try and set up the battles so that they attack across rivers or I isolate one of the prussian armies and then hammer on it until it is destroyed. Then I regroup before engaging the next army. Also if possible let them come into sweeden with their armies so that attrition helps you out.

Lastly make sure you are using your best commanders and set tactics for each flank. The tactics make a huge difference.

That being said I have bascially fought 2 extended wars against the prussians that ended in white peace (or minor gold gifts). I plan to start a 3rd one when the latest truce ends (Austria and Prussia both declared war on Russia). I will take on whomever I thin is losing. Also it is about 1816 right now.

Small population doesnt mean much MP should be based on a nations Military Pop. like Prussia where everyone powerful or sucessful was in some way connected to the Military.
North Korea recruits more Soldiers than USA.

Well that is becasue the USA has not fully mobilized since World War II, but I do agree with your basic point.

I'd agree with Dey123 and rubikoob that the best ways to get the most from your manpower is very careful positioning and use of your armies, combined with conquest.

If you have enough gold, province developments are useful (especially earlier in the game when there is more time remaining for their benefits to accrue). I'd recommend that you use the leedger to check which of your provinces have the highest manpower, and then see if there are any developments available there.
