If you progress Bulgaria's focus tree down to the point of forming a faction with Greece, and then Turkey forms its own faction and invites Bulgaria in via event, you can form the super Balkan faction. This is cool because both Turkey and Bulgaria can give their faction members bonuses which can give their combined forces a pretty hefty set of combat bonuses. I imagine in multiplayer you could even get the full set of Balkan nations in one super faction by having Greece leave Bulgaria's faction and having Yugoslavia devolve into as many countries as it can so that the research group has a ton of members.
