Reading the developers diary and seeing the screenshots I am now very curious.
Will Crusader Kings II be a sequel to crusader kings or more a sequel to Rome (but playing in an other time period). And i don't mean this literally (of course I know its te sequel to crusader kings). Let me explain: I loved crusader kings. The traits, the portraits, the events ... it al was just fun! Having your promissing monarch turn into a raving lunatic with a wife who has your brother as a lover and a son who just hates you was hillarious to me. Rome did not give me that feeling at all. it was frankly just boring. I couldn't care less about the characters i was playing. So my profound wish is that crusader kings II will keep the fun element that was the basis of the succes of crusader kings.

So maybe we can get a developers diary about just how the developers are trying to incorperate the fun element? I for one hope we will have tons and tons of random events. I mean I like a nice map to, but for me the map is a lot less important. I hope some of you will support me in this.

(sorry for the bad english)

If by fun you mean the focus on characters rather than the realms they're in charge of, then yes, this game is a successor to CK rather than Rome according to the developers. They're making the realm in-fact more insignificant compared to your characters, which is a plus for then and any other time :).

This is sequel to CK of course. Rome is a totally different game and CK2 would be nothing like this if it was sequel to Rome (for whatever reason).

Maybe i'm not explaining myself correctely.
I know its a sequel to crusader kings in THE litteral
Sense. What i mean is that in both THE original crusader kings and
Rome characters were very important. But where as in crusader kings that
was realy fun, in Rome it was utterly boring. Seeing as crusader kings II is
made in te bases of the same game engine as Rome this has legt me worried.
I want fun!

Yeah, I think that it will be fun. Rome was kind of fun if you played a monarchy; Epigoni mod added things like allowing royal mistresses that added to the fun, and having an affair with the king was an ambition available to women. (So, my tyrant was sleeping with his son's wife.) Then there is the conniving dead king's brother who is plotting against the new king, who is a two-month-old baby. Maybe Doomdark or one of the other developers can comment on the design concept "FUN!"

By the way, your English is fine, and thanks for asking such a great question. :)

I think the difference between Rome and CK is that in Rome the emphasis was on combat and wars and world conquering and trade and NOT dynastic building, you wanted CK to be in EU:Rome and it was not intended to be that way. If you play Rome as a wargame instead of dynasty building you'll find it's a much better game and fun the way it is intended to be played.

CK2 is going to follow CK1 in dynasty building with some Rome graphics and eye candy I'm sure. There will be plenty of intrigue and hopefully less micromangement of things that weren't fun in CK1 like those buttons that determined your army makeup. It's already sounding great and I can hardly wait to get my hands on it.

Thanks for THE replies. I quess you are right Rome
was more focussed in warfare. So Doomdark can we get a
developers diary in fun? :) If that's not possible
maybe one om events? And i hope you guys are making
lots of them!
