"Full" Country names

I would love to name all my nations as "Republic of Finland" instead of "Finland" or "United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland" instead of "United Kingdom". But i get that not everybody would want that, so shorter names are better for vanilla. However, if i want to mod it in, can i do it with relative ease? In previous paradox games, there is huge amount of empty space that UI could use, but does not utilize. I don`t understand why EU 4 has all buttons for different map modes on top of map, when entire bottom of my screen is empty... That is idiotic.

If all space would be utilized properly, i could have as long names as i want. And buttons could be bigger, and so could font. And huge amount of people actually want bigger font (judging how popular bigger font mods are). I certainly want bigger buttons at least, and more space.
I also have huge flag fetish myself, so having bigger flags would be great But that is another topic.

I'd like the opposite: Short monolingual country names, like

Germany instead of German Reich
France instead of French République
Italy instead of Italian Impero

i'd prefer a nations' short name (germany, greece, UK) to be on the map is they were simply called, while their full/actual name (third reich, hellenic republic, united kingdom of great britain and northern ireland) be in the diplomatic interface.

That's a great idea actually. I want a mod for this now.

I think the goal there is to make it easy to tell at a glance when certain countries have gone fascist/democratic/socialist. In that sense, I don't really mind those names because they serve a purpose and add a little flavour.

I personally hope the "American People's Republic" makes a reappearance from Victoria 2, along with their awesome flag.

Would be good to have it consistent yeah.

Every tag could have:

- Informal name
- Formal name

In the various language packs. Player picked which one they want set to. In the menu, the game would also have an option for endonyms for countries. So it would say Deutschland even in the English version if you checked that box.

UI should scale much better depending on size of monitor. Currently it wastes space a lot.
Picture is from EU4 due to being extreme example, in HOI4 it seems to be a little better

But i still would like to raise my concern. I rather am concerned for nothing than ignore something important.

The log expands out into that empty space when you click the wee plus button to the left of the map, so there is something that already goes there.

A short name displayed on map, and the long name displayed in the actual UI windows, would be the right way to go I think.

For example, it should just say "Japan" on the map, but when you open their UI window, or diplomacy window when playing as someone else, it should say "Empire of Japan". On the map it should say United States or USA, but in the trade/diplomacy window it should say "United States of America".

And so on for "Dominion of Canada", "Empire of India", "Union of Soviet Socialist Republics", "People's Republic of China", "Federal Republic of Brazil" and such. The map would just state their generic short names, but the UI windows, their longer, full names.

And of course it should change with government type. A democratic Persia would be "Republic of Iran", a communist Italy would be "People's Republic of Italia" and a fascist Siam would be "Thai Empire" and such.
