I'm not going to sauce-hunt for you folks because it's a royal pain to do so on a phone, but being able to research other FTLs later in the game has been confirmed by devs many times over. I'm sure it was talked about in the relevant DD threads (maybe not the DD itself, but dev response in the thread; just filter thread to show only dev posts). Heck, the devs even told us that you can have multiple FTL techs, but you can only fit one drive type per ship.

That's true, but in every time I've seen it mentioned, they are talking about researching advanced FTL methods, similarly to how we can research advanced government types. Nowhere that I've seen did they say you can research the other two of the initial three starting types. Everything I've seen presents that as a choice you make between the three of them.

No.

We also have some required components depending on the class of ship you are trying to build. One of the basics is what FTL capability your ship has, so you may build some ships with warp and others with wormhole FTL. It is, however, only possible to have ships with the same type of FTL in the same fleet.

Except my question is if you force everyone to be the same type at the beginning, can you get the other types later on. A previous poster said no, are you confirming yes?

Hmm? My posts weren't in response to your OP; I was just correcting one particular misconception that popped up during the course of this thread. That dev quote was addressing normal gameplay, not FTL-restricted gameplay; I should've qualified my posts more clearly to avoid confusions.

The reason I didn't join your original discussion and reply to your specific question is because we don't know yet--none of us do. I highly suspect the single-FTL mode would disable all other FTL techs down the line (including Yump Drives), but that's just my speculation because the alternative doesn't make much sense to me. Your guess would be just as good as mine.
