Good morning;

One thing I've noticed is that if I put too many divisions in the same area they get bogged down and can not advance properly; is this normal or something I'm doing wrong?

In particular I'm talking about the invasion of France through Belgium. . . It is a small area and HOI-4 doesn't allow me to cross into Holland or Luxembourg unless I've officially declared War.

I'm trying to push 10 Armoured Divisions into France as a spearhead and then bring 14 Motorized Infantry divisions through on an offensive line.

The problem is they seem to be easily blocked by 3 Belgium divisions until the British get 10-20 divisions into the mix.

How do I stagger the attacks so there isn't so much congestion? If I remember correctly in HOI-2 you could set the time of the attacks.

Please help. :)

You probably need better divisions. What are your armor division designs? Also you should put all your CAS/TACS in that air region for ground support. From a strategy perspective though, I'd go after Netherlands first, as that will open up a northern front against Belgium rather quickly and force them and the allies to distribute forces along it.

if you want to pierce with your tanks then attack with them first, do not use the battle planner.

I would set my battle plan for the mot inf and not launch it till the tanks breakthrough. Use air to help this along.

What is probably happening is that you are running amiss of the width limitations of the game. Only 80 width of forces can attack at a time. this amount is increased by 40 for each additional province of attack origin. once the width is reached all other units enter the reserve. Chances are if you set your tanks in every available province and attack from them all you will find the battle easier.

One last note, check the border and see if the Belgians have any forts (they probably do). IF so armor sucks at cracking forts. go through the Netherlands.

What Gwydion5 said. Your templates might need tweaking,but more likely your tactics are at fault. If you try to push through a narrow corridor you are playing into the Allies hand. Knock out Holland first and Belgium is undefendable. Just keep heading south from there, the Allies should not be able to stop good armor templates coming across Flanders.

You can also attack from the south if Italy is in the war. The Allies do not have the division to defend both fronts.

Good God boy, don't send your troops into the Maginot meat-grinder! Of course you need to remove the Netherlands and Belgium first, that's how you avoid all the forts and actually achieve a blitzkrieg... It's basic history you know, that's how Hitler did it.
