After the fall of Bavaria, the next target was the last “big one” of the German alliance: Prussia. A fast offensive was launched, ending with the battle of Berlin, won the 11th August 1839:
A month later, the 22nd September 1838, Prussia accepted satellitization and war indemnities:
Now no one can stop Italian armies. A wave of fury moved against the german minors:
One after another the German minors were annexed or humiliated and conquered:
Mecklemburg annexed 25th September 1839, Anhalt annexed 2nd December 1839, Lubeck annexed 15th December 1839, Saxony annexed 1st January 1840, Hamburg annexed 19th January 1840, Saxe-Weimar annexed 3rd February 1840, Lippe-Detmold annexed 10th February 1840, Saxe-Meiningen annexed 10th March 1840, Bremen and Saxe-Coburg-Gotha annexed 17th March 1840, OldenBurg annexed 30th April 1840, Hannover was humiliated and reduced to his capital city the 21st May 1840, Hesse-Kassel annexed 25th May 1840, Nassau annexed 1st November 1840, Wurttemberg was humiliated and reduced to his capital city the 5th April 1841. Finally Baden, the last independent Germans minor was humiliated and reduced to his capital 28th May 1841. The second war of Italian Independence ended with Triumph and Glory!
A little incident was recorded after the end of the war: Switzerland didn’t agree to grant military access to the Italian troops coming back from Germany and so…
5th august 1841 every province of Switzerland, save Bern, was transferred to Italian control, to guarantee the communication between the Italian and the German regions of the Italian Empire.
