19th November 1837 – 26th July 1838
Little note: The game was patched to 1.03c
The Italian armies crossed the border the same day of the declaration of war against the German states.
The constant advance of the armies continued for the first month of operations…
The troops from Rimini landed in Udine, taking the mountains behind the front lines. The main armies continued their near-unstoppable advance. At 19th January 1838, after two months of war, the offensive was deep inside Austrian border:
Finally some kind of opposition against the offensive was met: the Austrian navy set sails to the northern Adriatic and was intercepted by the Italian frigates. The freighted Austrian forces regrouped at the mountain strongholds in the province of Klagenfurt. But the Italian troops advances trough the deep leaks in the Germans defence lines. The fake assault of the colonel Kapecki in Klagenfurt covered the Bersalieri corps the take the key province of Lienz, waiting for reinforcement from Treviso:
The Austrian front is crumbling… After 3 months of war, the 19th February 1838, everything is going well:
Minor forces from the other German states were spotted manoeuvring inside Austrian borders. The Austrian navy was routed and sent back to the port of Pola. Our frigates were dispatched to the Ligurian Sea to protect the coast against a possible German landing The Austrian divisions reached Lienz too late and found Italians troops well prepared to defend the forest-and-mountains province. No one is offering a decent defence against the armies in Udine and Bozen. The offensive continues, but something concern the Italian HQ: the little concentration of troops on the mountains provinces is enough to slow down the operations of the following months. The strategic core of the Italian offensive is the quick occupation of Wien and a peace treaty with the superpower. Clouds are gathering around the bright Italian star…
The 19th of march the fears of an incoming defeat raised a revolt in Parma. The new colonial divisions were sent to quell the revolts in Tunis:
As predicted the Italian fleet intercepted a Prussian transport convoy in the ligurian sea and sunk it:
On the Austrian front the fourth month of war was a static one:
The Austrian forces in Lienz continued to resist, but the two important offensives in Ljubljana and in Zell am See will see their results only in the following months:
The strong defence line on the alps was broken! The road to the Wien is clear!
It’s the time for the final strike against the hated enemy. The mobilized troops were deployed in Maribor in the first days of May. The 14th June, four days before the end of the 7th month of war, the first army corps engaged enemy troops and started the siege of Wien:
Wien was conquered the 18th July:
Fearing a massive assault on the surrounded troops in Klagengfurt, defeated and humiliated, the 26th July 1838 Austria signed a peace treaty with Italy. Austria will secede all the provinces claimed by Italy and become a satellite of Italy:
Finally all the Italian provinces are united under one crown, but the war against the Germans continues and the Italian troops move against Bavaria… The rage and the fury of avenge will bring havoc against all the Germans.
