I guess you can always waste few years, roaming the galaxy for sister planets to your home world.

From the video today with Quill18 here at 23:40.
The way I am interpreting this: it sounds like Doomdark is saying that all players have to rely on aliens (or robots) being integrated in their society to some extent in order to populate worlds that your primary race wouldn't be happy on.
I'm just curious about how far that integration has to go. If you wanted to roleplay a truly xenophobic empire (meaning no aliens and no robots, just the shining beacon of your primary race), would you be at a complete crippling disadvantage for colonizing these types of worlds or trying to avoid them all together? Is there no possibility of your primary race developing or evolving ways to be happier on a harsh planet?
It puzzles me because Henrik's wording might indicate that this playstyle is either objectively unplayable, or so inefficient in comparison to your neighbors and rivals that it may as well be unplayable. That would be a disappointment for people who had ideas of warhammer-style xenophobia for some games.
Isn't xenophobic tied with phenotypes rather than species? Like, xenophobic humans will hate less on other mammals. That might provide some more POPs.
Overall i didn't understand it to be that you depend on other species being equals as much as you depend on other species to produce stuff for you, slaves or not.
I'm not plannig to go xenophobe with my empire but it would be really immersion breaking for xenophobe empires to have alien citizens. So I really hope you can substitute them completly with robots.
If you can have parts of your population evolve/be genetically enhanced into like a sub-species that don't get the xenophobia malus that would be great and should profit you in the long-term while being a total pain for you in the short-term compared to just enslaving primitive species to your will.
I very HIGHLY doubt that xenophobic pops don't have a problem with "mutants"... i'm just saying based off of IRL human xenophobia, it doesn't take a lot for people who are already predisposed to be xenophobic to start blaming a "different" group for every problem under the sun.
