Saved games from Crusader Kings can be converted into the format of EU 2.

Will saved games from EU 2 be converted into the format of Victoria?

I think will be great to create a game as deep as EU 2 that go from the medioeval to today. From the fall of Rome, to the fall of the Berlin's Wall... :D

I think is better to start from the fall of Rome, because if you start before the game risks to be only a fight between big empires... Or just one big Empire (ROME) that eats the little country(s) around it.

At the end I want to say I hope Victoria have a lot of Diplomacy. I LOVE IT !
Once I liked more warfare than diplomacy, but now, a nice diplomacy move give me more enthusiasm than a simply fight.

Ciao!

what?? around 1000 years of game?
There are already few people who can finish a GC in EU2 before
getting bored, so imagine this mega-ultra-GC...
The idea is cool, but i doubt that no one would stand this, simply
too much time.

I think I read somewhere on these forums that it's technically possible (just some of the information would be transferred, not all), but I don't know if Paradox will want to do it.

I admit that it's a cool idea, but I personally don't have the time to play and install all these games on a single PC... :D

You only need 2 games at max installed at a time. But it prolly would be damn boring if you play from the start to win. You'll reach a world conquest every time by the end of EU2, if not earlier. Imagine a country starting EU2 with France & large parts of other countries in Europe, while possibly also having their cultures (heck, how would the converter determine your cultures anyway?), if not owning all of Europe. Then imagine such a country growing at full speed, or at least as fast as it can manage without getting badboy wars. Where would that put you in 1819? in virtual control of all he world, not necessarily owning every stretch of land, but still, what fun would playing another 100 years be then?

Correct me if I am wrong but isn't it possible to make a program that use savegame data from the end of a game to modify all the neccessary data and remake some of the modifyable files in the following game? A good conbverterprogram could even use the history file to create some custom events file in the next game.

I remember reading on these forums that someone came up with the cool idea of switching countries every so often, like say 200 years or so. That would prevent you from conquering the world with one country, give you variety (if you time it right you could get all the interesting events from each country around the world), keep you interested throughout the whole time period and educate you all at the same time!

Somewhat true, yes in a very spartan way you could do that but you would lose some features.

And for example if ppl ported their save game from EU2 to Victoria, how would the computer figure out all the pie chart percentages? what about features included in Victoria and aren't in EU2 and vice versa? do the provinces even match up, or whatnot? What about alaska? Does it start just purely uninhabited?

As you can see it can get pretty complicated.

Yeah... You all are right. Would be too long. Cool, but too long... :D

For sure with rules that allow that kind of game possible to be complete in... a month?

Don'y you?

Single player it would be boring, as people would quickly conquer the world. Just think of the multiplayer possibilities though...:D

If the game has good balance I don't think people would SO quickly conquer the world.
Look at Civilization series JUST for an example...

Multiplayer would be nice, but quite difficult: number of players at first.

I haven't tried it, but according to reviews the new "Rise of Nations" should come pretty close!
A mix of the board game "History of the World" (using the epocs from that), and otherwise with a "Civ" look and feel.
Not as much detail as EU 2 I think but spans about the same as the classic Civ games.

Could be a good "waiting game" until we get Victoria :)

CIV series is nice. But it doesn't have good and deep diplomacy as EU 2.

As I say before, I start to enjoy more diplomacy than simply fight.
I like play games where diplomacy has deep importance.
