But its 500 years off and gets worse and worse more game goed on
Best I can do is renaming netherlands now leviathan opened that damnable box
Why, then we swap from ck giving holy wars on pagans to Catholics suddenly being okay to border apsotates who become pagans with little known knowledge of what the religion was
"Vikings" in this era are just pirates from Nordic countries. There's no need ot be anachronistic about it
As for Norse, I like paganism. -Shrug.- I'm not super happy about how it was handled for Norway, and I don't see it being applicable to Friesland. But if someone can come up with a more immersive event chain than "king randomly decides to apostasize and everyone goes along with him for lolz," I would be all for it.
Who's swapping from CK, and who plays Christians in that game anyway? I thought the point was to play pagans waging holy wars.~ But seriously, who said that Christians should be fine with it? A Christian king converting to any pagan faith should incur something like -4 stability and -100 relations with all Christian nations, on top of the normal malus for bordering heathen religion.
Instead of some wacky path to become norse or a special decision /mission to become a pirate (which are both not historical) I would love some more love to privateering. I think that Friesland and privateering combined could make a good mission tree. Throw some republican missions and some special misson tree event in to conquer west-friesland (part of the Holland province in-game) and we are set
I would like to see "piraitng" merged into privateering, and privateering becoming more robust.
Would be cool if they got a mission tree to re-establish Saxon England, since they are close cultural relatives.
You can't "reestablish" somehting that already exists. The English literally ARE the Anglo-Saxons, they've just undergone cultural evolution. The Frisians would no more be capable of reestablishing an early medieval culture in England than the Low Saxons or Danes who inhabit the regions the Angles, Jutes and Saxons came from. The only way Frisia should get missions relating to England is in connexion with controlling Channel trade. (Which, yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing them get a claim on a London to make it a "trading post.")
Raiding would be more suitable for East Frisia if anything, but actually as mentioned, what the Frisians did during this period, even the more actively piratical East Frisians, is better portrayed with privateering.
Also, any actual suggestions here? I’m working on a suggestion post for all Dutch minors (a single branch of say five missions (like the Flemish branch) besides the shared Dutch mission), and so far have them for Gelre and Utrecht, so would love to hear some concrete ideas for Frisia
I'm thinking of an early mission reward being the availability of a mercenary company called the Swarte Heap, let by 3-star general Grutte Pier. Also, maybe as a finisher of the branch a mission requiring the conquest, or culture conversion, of all of Magna Frisia (the coast from Brugge to Dithmarshen), granting a hefty permanent modifier. But don't as of yet have much else..
From the Wiki article
@funkyfreshrat posted, it kind of sounds like Friesland was a kind of aristocratic republic at game start, which could be represented in-game. Plus it was sold to the Duke of Burgundy, which could also entail an event chain.
And I've thought for a long time it would be a good idea for the Frisians to have a formable unification tag, that would give them an alternative to forming the colony-centric Netherlands. "Greater Frisia" would be my preference for name, but just "Frisia" would do. In addition to unifying the Frisia area it would entail annexing Holland and Weser as well, and the missions/ideas would focus on control of the North Sea, the Hanseatic League, and maybe piracy/privaeteering.
Also, I think the meaning of "Swarte Heap" would have more impact if it was translated and intelligible to game players -- Black Hope in English.
