Wanted to make a thread here before submitting a potentially false bug report. If it's not a bug, it's definitely still a design oversight though!
I had several enclave systems on the other side of a friendly AI empire, with trade routes running through their territory to my capital. After forming a federation which the AI immediately left, I can no longer connect trade routes across the other empire, causing me to lose a lot of income. Is this because of the truce that results from leaving a federation? If so, it definitely shouldn't be the case for this type of scenario, since the AI is still friendly and we have open borders and several other agreements, including active sensor link and commercial pact.
Alternatively, I am wondering if it has to do with surveyed systems. There are some systems along my former trade routes inside the AI's system that are unsurveyed. The trade routes worked perfectly fine before, but maybe something changed when the AI briefly became a federation ally. There's no possible routes that don't cross an unsurveyed system though, so I can't test this idea. Either way it's annoying that systems in allied territory can't be surveyed.
AIs leaving federations immediately because they don't like their own subjects (and don't take those subjects into account for acceptance) is a known issue, so this is really a problem inside another problem. Hopefully both are fixed sooner rather than later.
