I like having ten players. Usually 11 has been our magic number, and I could problably host even more. However, from past experiences, we know that the weekly showing is almost always less than 10. More players will mean more subs to find, more inestability due to players leaving, etc. 10 is a good number I think, 8 will be minimum.

The other point is that we have always have permanent subs, ie. players without a country willing to sub for anyone. They usually end up being perms. And it is a good way to test newcomers ;)

Just I got ICQ, and my number is 298 205 313. I have added to my ICQ: Javi, Habsburg, Barca and Strix. Rest of the people can give me his number or added to me.

Personally, I think 11 would be good, as it is the current number of players we have now (if we accept LE and if Hyz can play).

So far I think the countries we'd need are:

France
Austria
England
Ottoman Empire
Russia
Spain
Poland
Sweden
Brandenburg
Venice
Persia/Portugal

Just my thoughts.

PP as France and Habs as OE? Put me in Austria and it'd be the same as Friday Night I, except with Barca I'd have a compitent Spanish ally (no offense to Hojo). :D

Really I have no country preference. I'll even take Papal States again if need be ;)

Old Members,

What rule are we going with for diplo-annexing?

I think 10-12 is a good number, I think a lot depends on the players connections, I notice we had no issues with higher numbers when everyone had a good internet connection but got dicey with a few having low connections.

Almost forgot....

Are we agreed that Barca cannot play the first couple sessions, to give the rest of us a chance ;)

The diplo-annex rule was specifically made for a minors game, and I think would be out of place here. I also think a Persian culture rule is unnecessary and hurts the Ottoman player.

If we have Persia played by human then we can't put a rule on OE. It would be unfair.
I think 10-11 players is ok but we never had a successful game with 12.
Hyz you are right that this is very similar to our first game, but I am not stuborny set on playing France I can move to ther nation as long as it is not Portugal. :)

Also I think we should wait with setting up the rules until we know who plays so everyone have the vote.

I think a good OE can easily defeat Ai in Persia and get the cot, persian culture is there to limit Oe expansion, specially in the manpower issue. If so, I think we should screw Venice and Brandenburg to give Austria a chance. Portugal is good for balance or we would have a huge France/England/Oe. Or even Spain! that has to limit their expansion somehow in the pacific.
Maybe, and it's a big maybe, we could just screw Poland, let Russia grow with confort and place someone in Brandenburg, Poland's survival or expansion proves to be quite unbalancing in many campaigns I've played, and there were a lot of them :)

Why a cultural rule? this of course depends on one's preferences. Anyhow I will introduce an idea;
statistically a cultural rule provoked more wars in those campaigns that used it. it seems a cultural rule is attractive for warmongers, not so for economists. most think war keep the interest we need to play enjoying our campaing. Wars stop hyperteching, that proved to be quite bad in the long run. and some other good/bad things. As far as i'm concerned this has more "pros" and I vote for a yes.

the 3/5 province rule is perfect and I support this idea. As i said, all are remarkations and opinions. ;)

I vote no on culture rule, and yes on 10 players max. The rest interested on playing could show their worth by being perm subs :D, and eventually moving to perms. As I said before, a good part of the starting players usually quit the game after a couple of sessions.

I think we should have the following countries

a) Portugal
b) Spain
c) France
d) England
e) Austria
f) Sweden
g) Poland
h) Russia
i) OE
j) Persia/Pope - > Netherlands

Experience has shown that the usual show for the game is aorund 6-7 players, max 8. That will mean 1 or 2 subs only TBF, and 1-2 AIs. Imagine 12-14 player nations

I like Daed's suggestion, possibily adding eith DAN or BB. However I am pretty easy on the matter. :D Usually the game settles down by 3-4th session and we know who will really be around regular. :) Seems as though all who have expressed interest really want to play - so yay!

U guys are obviously unfamilar with my record since then

In clash of nations 3 I took a weak Brandenburg and over 300 years tunred it into the greatest central european power. I defeated Austria many times and only lost Frederick to a cmombined ganging by 5 powers, after that I did not quit or complain I accepted it and by games end was again a great power.

In the past 6 months I have missed just 2 sessions and have not quit any games, right now I am GM of two long term and sucessful gams and have been accepted to play in the huge CQS IV game as the tough to play Netherlands.

I am a much different player then you remember me as, all I ask is for a second chance to prove it :)

Lady, you're sexier now :p may i add your campaigns are like religious experiences?
hehe good times, I had the luck to participate in Con1 when Dyno, Beli, Duma, Constantine, and some more (my original group) joined it. times of campaigns with 8 players as maximum. :)

LE,
Since I was not at the beginning of the last game I will refrain from making a judgement on you.

Is this now the roster:

Barca - Spain
Daedalus - Austria
Pomerania Prince - France
Habsburg - Ottoman Empire
CCbasin - England (or Persia if enough majors covered)
Strix - Sweden (or England if CC moves to Persia)
Sterkam - Poland
Javier - Portugal
Cardinal - Russia

Now we have maybe Hyzhenhok and maybe LE. Looks like I may get to play Persia after all.

Looking good for the setup folks. Looks like many wars are in our future:)

OK, it looks like the "old" members voted on the # of players:

Dead (the host) 10 players
PP 10-11 players
CC 10-11 players
Stix 10-12 players
Barca refering to Dead
Habs refering to Dead

It looks like 10 players, maybe 11. So I guess we would have a place of Lady E. Unless Hyz is sure that he can play.

PP,
Being Persia doesnt bother me. I am looking forward to it. Spec left Persia so OE would have a perm player. He didnt leave because he lost.

All,
Tommorrow I am going board gaming. The guy I am meeting likes EUII and I may be able to talk him into being a sub.

Ok CCbasin,

Are you Persia or England?

Was gonna look at Sweden/Egland with PE 1492 this weekend, so asking to determine which one to study the most.

Thanks,
