Please, Navarra/Catalunya/Brabant vs Mantua/Bosnia (who can only reach North Africa) on the defensive is some kind of overwhelming advantage?

Well seeing as you claim to have 99 warscore, it would seem obvious that you do have a decisive advantage. I'd say it's the combination of naval monopoly, DOTF, a CRT, and good leaders.

My leaders aren't that special, they are boosted by 9 offensive/quality however. The problem is that your leaders were killed early in the war due to my naval superiority. But, you're right we had a momentary advantage and decided to use it. With 99 WS and us demanding one COT I think its time to cut your losses and get ready for the next round rather than drag this on forever.

If I loose ganges I will never get it back. I can't imagine the numeric odds in Europe will ever be more in my favor (or even as good as they are now), and for one of us to defeat the other with a land attack in Europe is essentially impossible. And then I just have to witness the trouble you're having despite all the advantages you enjoy.

Better to spend a ton to keep it now then spend a ton and fail to get it back later. Of course leaving you with 7 COTs or some other such outrageous number is unacceptable. If one country gets 7 COTs there sure is a problem with the game, and it ain't the wars.

Can someone please tell me who started this war??? What year did you guys get to??

Barca,
Why would I want to get involved again?? To have the privilege of having troops march to and fro thru my territory. I have fought 2 wars against you for no gain and a whole lot of loss. I would need a huge reason to attempt it again.

Yeh. Barca I know your a pissed off at me. (you have valid reason to be). I took some you your cash and then DoW on you. I did not wish to get involved in this war and only after noticing the huge advantage you have I decided to jump in. (and even then Habs and Spec had to ask for very long time) The way I look at it you paid 1/6 of agreed sum and I did stay out of war for for most of the time.

This war for me is not about gaining territory or cash (All cash Habs give me for now was used to build army and keep it. At one point it cost me 100$ a month for upkeep) I joined only because CC was out and I think that his presence would change the way war was going.

As to the current situation and peace resolution I have this to say: I will not fight for very long time and destroy my economy just so Spec WP you. You have advantage and you should get something out of the war. At the same time I am unwilling to give you one more COT. The same for Bosnia (I am not sure Stix war score). I believe that Spec should give you Apula and Bosnia should get cash or some minor prov. but not COT. Giving you a COT would change balance of power drastically. And Pomerania is able to exist only do to this power balance. I can't agree to giving you or NAV-BAR too much power, that would put me as next target.

So Spec give Barca something but not COT, Barca don't ask for COT because then I will have to stay in the war :( and if CC joins it then the situation may change....

Barca did DoW on Nac-Cat. After that Habs joined on the side of Nav-Cat but LOR was left out of it (which did mess up BAR troops movment) After few months I joined the war on Nav-Cat-Bar side to keep Man-Bos in check. Mol is neutral and hapy to colonize siberia

I would normally say that a WP for all involved sounds like the best answer instead of ruining our countries but that would be incredibly unfair to Barca (and myself).

This the THIRD time we have ended up with a virtual all-out war with the lame excuse that Barca is too powerful.

The first time, Barca was gangbanged by a group of greedy countries trying to take advantage of his weakness, ME, and they succeeded. Habs, CC, Cat and Navarre (Drake I think) declared war, out of the blue, on Barca and myself. I was in the middle of low stab, no income, and no military, so wasn't able to land any real support to Barca (my army was 20K and could only be raised 3K at a time).

The result was Barca losing Ganges some SA provinces (and maybe something else, I forget).

The second time, some greedy players took advantage of the Knights declaring war on me, and penalized Barca for coming to his allies aid by trying to gangbang him again.

This was Habs, CC, and Navarre (Specterx) against Barca and myself. However, this time Barca had made tremendous personal sacrifices to ensure that I was a worthwhile ally, and frankly, that my country was worth playing.

We managed to stalemate Habs and CC in Europe than Barca paid a province (anhalt?) and cash to PP to help break that stalemate.

Habs and CC dropped out and we continued fighting with Navarre until Habs and CC threatened to come back while PP wanted nothing more to do with it.

The result was Barca losing Anhalt and gaining nothing.

Ok, now this third war, not a war of greed on Barca's part, but a war to RECLAIM a lost province, Ganges. A province that Barca took the time to discover, the time to wrestle from it's former owner, and the time to invest in it period.

It was clearly stated at the beginning that Ganges was his war aim.

So, the war starts. Barca calls me because he knows Specterx will call Cat, and he does, and that Habs will soon follow, and he does. Truthfully, if Cat doesn't join than it's a 1 vs 1 war because I do not have the land connection or navy to invade Navarre.

Barca quickly racks up WS versus Navarre and I take ALL of Cat's Egyptian provinces (Alexandria, Delta, Nile, and Cataract) plus Apulia with Messina almost finished and Sicily to follow.

Barca has 99% WS versus Specterx and Cat.

Along comes Habs and now PP, so that's 4 vs 2, and maybe next session CC joins in making it 5 vs 2.

Barca just wants the return of a STOLEN province, he doesn't want something he never had, and doesn't want the full FIVE provinces for an allied victory.

I am willing to forget the fact that I have A LOT of Cat area under my control, say goodbye to all my cash I have spent on troops, ships, and other stuff, if we can ALL just agree to give Barca back what is rightfully his, Ganges, and everyone else WP.

Truthfully, and I speak for myself because I am not sure where Barca stands, I have no problems ruining my country over this issue. The way I see it, this is it for the game. If Barca and I back down over a legimate war, that we have a perfect right to fight than that's the game. From than on, anyone can attack us, declare the usual Jihad, and force us to give them what they want, or the world will take it. All the time knowing we can never get it back because the original aggressor will scream that "barca is becoming too powerful" and the gangbang will ensue.

Also truthfully, I like our chances, I haven't had to fight in Europe, as I stated I cannot reach Navarre, so I have over 260 MP left and unlimited cash from Barca to convert it to troops.

I am not certain of CC's state but I don't think most of you have much MP left and Barca has some mighty big forts and attrition to grind it down.

So yeah, I like our chances, with some luck and skill, Barca and I can pull off a major victory (you don't beat 5 on 2 odds much), and THAN the demands will really change.

Is it worth losing FIVE european provinces, countless loans, and whatever else damage may result over ONE stolen province?

On the subject of Moldavia...

I would suggest that one of two things occur;

1) Daed (if willing) is allowed to end MA in his country for all war participants by editing, to avoid the stab hits he'll take.

Or,

2) Everyone agrees to not use his country as a transit zone (to reach me or for me to reach PP).

From a military stand point, Daed is at a great disadvantage. If someone takes advantage of his goodwill and angers the otherside, he only can lose a great deal.

Barca and I have the biggest border with him nearest his better provinces, and would hate to be forced to take provinces because of the actions of others. Thereby destroying a game of goodwill and cooperation.

PP is in the same position, they have fought often against Russia, and it would be unfair for me to force him to punish Daed for my using his country to sneak around his flank.

I just bring this idea up because I don't wish for Daed to get the shaft because of others.

Any thoughts?

Whoa Strix, calm down bro on the righteous indignation :D

Strix the word "greed is a little harsh dont you think. After all, this is a game about the accumulation of power and wealth for the particular nation you play. I do not believe you are looking at it like many people in this game. Barca has built many manus for you, has his total to 20 or above, fortified himself to where most of his forts are med or above, and managed to capture the majority of overseas CoT's. This is a frightening prospect for any nation in Europe that cannot truly count Mantua as their friend(like you can).

That being said, I am trully flattered that the worry of whether Lorraine will or will not enter the war is causing such a distinct turn of everyone's strategic thinking. However, if Spec ever puts up the stats, I believe you will see how unprepared Lorraine is for war. I didnt even get a chance to rebuild from the last one. I have no desire to get involved in another. Again, Lorraine will move to the defense of Brabant but we have no plans to get involved offensively.

Barca has requested that I not do stats for this week, and in any case I don't have a save.

CC got it right on. I am willing to negotiate for some other provinces but not a CoT. 7 large CoTs is just too many, and I've never supported any nation getting so many in any of my games (including my allies, since allies can be counted to eventually turn on you). Even in the most unbalanced game I've ever played, the most powerful nation only had 6 real CoTs and then a token one in Tahiti. It sucks that navarre has to be the whipping boy for retaining the Balance of Power, and I've no particular desire to see my country wrecked, but if that's what it takes then so be it.

And BTW CC, Barca now has almost exclusively large and mighty forts, except in his most interior provinces.

Well you'd be quite useful in recapturing my provinces. Apparently upgrading all the forts to medium did absolutely nothing but make it more difficult for me to recapture them. Barca lanced through them even faster than before.

Sorry if the tone sounds bad, just the way I see it.

Bosnia is a poor country, in a poor section of the world, with a poor outlook for the last hundred years of the game.

It would be much more worse if not for Barca's generous help.

Why did he help? Mainly because I asked, looked pathetic, and he likes all the free girls and wine from Hellas.

Did any of you try to form an alliance or cooperate with him?

People make him out to be this Adolph Hitler-type waiting to conquer the world with an iron fist.

I just wanted to point out that OTHERS have been responsible for these wars for their own reasons, and not him.

The reason righteous indignation comes into play is because many of these people have been very hipocritical.

When they fight Barca (and myself) they try and drape themselves in this cloak of righteousness, stating Barca is the all-powerful evil that must be battled for the good of the world.

Than they grab a CoT, they don't take 5 provinces, they just want a CoT.

I was just trying to point out that Barca was only trying to correct a wrong given to him earlier in the game.

In real life, would the USA lose Hawaii and not try and get it back at some point?

Why, how, and what could have been done about Barca's success is another topic. I was shut out of exploration, CoT's, and most of the world by where I was placed as a country, so didn't pay much attention.

There was a lot of map stealing, gameyness over CoTs, and other iffy stuff done by a lot of people (a good reason why a random resource game might be a good idea).

I am just trying to say it's not fair to Barca that he be penalized for playing the game well.

Look at South America or other areas, if Barca was Stalin, do you think Daed would have all his colonies, or that he'd be allowed to colonize Siberia?

I just wish people would come out and state truthfully why they are going to war, and not drag the world into it with cries of "Mantua is coming, Mantua is coming!".

When you think about it CC, you and I get screwed over the most. My little income is quickly absorbed by the war, and any efforts to do anything else are curtailed. I make troops, troops die, I make more troops, troops die, until peace is declared, I gain nothing (except stab loss).

You have much the same, war starts, everyone uses your country as the battlefield, you lose income, you lose men, you gain nothing, war ends, rinse and repeat.

Oh well...what can you do!

Well you're obviously referring to me, so I'll respond as such...

Strix you really are blowing this about a million times out of proportion. I haven't said that Barca is Stalin or Evil or any of that crap. He's the most powerful nation now, and it's not in anyone's interest, nor does it make for a particularly interesting game (except maybe for Barca) if he gets so powerful that he (alone or with bosnia) can defeat a coalition of all other world nations, or powertech with a 2-1 income advantage over his closest competitor, or cripple his competitors with a click of the embargo button. That's just the way it is. If we wanted it to be a unipolar world I could just give up ganges, then we can all sit back and powertech in peace and quiet on fast speed till 1820, but what sort of a game is that?

If you had played in some of these games where one or two nations are superpowers with overwhelming income/tech and at least enough manpower to defend themselves indefinitely then you'd understand exactly where I'm coming from. Flanders in my monday game controls all of France, all of the Netherlands, about two-thirds of Germany (with the cultures for all these), and has the largest fleet and second-largest income and trade ability. Granted that Mantua is nowhere near this uber but the "uberness threshold" in this game is set much lower, as nations are more compact (less manpower) and non-randomized goods and the presence of AI ROTW countries means lower income across the board. With the army sizes that can be deployed Mantua is perilously close to the point where he becomes undefeatable on land. Maybe he has passed that point already with his massive fortifications. In any case it's not a situation that anyone, including yourself, should be striving to maintain.

Spec, any offensive action by myself or bosnia against any other country will almost certainly result in the entire rest of the world joining in (as this war proves). An embargo would almost certainly result in a massive coalition to at least end the embargo and/or strip a few COTs. And this war is merely a pre-emptive strike, if I didn't expect you guys to attack me as soon as you caught up on landtech I would probably sit here happy count my gold. But twice in the last few sessions you guys have DOW'd me in an attempt to grab a COT. Well I'm not going to just sit and wait for you guys to smack me, I'm going to try to smack you back and the result is this war. The bottom line is my alliance has 99+ warscore on Navarra (enough to stabhit for 2 COTs), and the means to add another 30-40% when I get around to taking Malacca and some of Catalunya's East asian provinces.

PP, I told you, twice, I would have the difference edited in after the session, as I needed the diplomats to fund Bosnia and stabhit Spec. What really bothers me though is that the money I sent you (extra, you still would have got 5000 after session in the edit) is now being used against myself and Strix.

One thing I would like everyone to remember is that if this war continues much longer, and somehow Strix and I win, the demands will escalate significantly.

OK, I can't be considered neutral in this conflict as I am in it already. (true that I did fight the war before on the other side so maybe I can) Stix, the more you talk the more I get upset. I don't remember anyone calling Barca evil or bad or other crap. The only thing people said is that he is too powerful. AND THAT IS TRUE! Right now in a war 4vs2 he is wining with out much problem. I am afraid that he pasted the point where we can stop him from becoming uber nation. Any war where Barca is involved right vs 1 or 2 other powers would mean Barca's victory.

I have no problem with him becoming the super power. He played very well and made it happen. But we have the right to try stopping him. This is not a punishment of Barca but simple balance of power play. Last game we played was great do to Balance of power and I remember the war when Russia was attacked bye almost everyone to keep me in check. I did not cry that this is unfair but considered it very good and fun game. I do not see Barca crying that it is unfair that I attacked him. Back stabbing is part of the game.

As to peace resolution it is all about diplomacy and ability to force someone to agree to your demands. A war score is meaningless and you know that. If Spec is unwilling to sign the peace then he will get stab hit for refusing it. That will hit him with revolts and maybe some independent minors. At the same time WE in Barca empire can create similar problem.

I am not sure why you (Stix) are making such a big stink out of this.

Barca, I don't think that anyone here has a problem with you using your advantige to get more provs. (I don't) This game is all about that. You have the right to start a war but we have the right to stop you (or at leat try)

When comes to cash you give me I understand you are angry. But it was under $1k and I used it on ship manu. (at that time I realy did not plan to join the war). This actualy hurts me more than you as now no one will trust me with any agreements. (it was calculated risk and you have to agree that the game got much more intresting :)) I have good time even if I loose a prov or two. It is a game.. Yes you did tel me that I will get the cash after the game (and after 2nd time I got that, but I still made the choice to attack.) It was not a mistake but a choice. I also agree that if you continue to fight and win that you should ask for more (I would). :)

Spec and PP, you need to look at it from my perspective to understand.

How you guys view Barca, I view the rest of the world. You have all passed me by to such an extent that I can never even come close to catching up.

My last hundred years and next hundred years is sitting looking at my screen watching myself fall further and further behind.

I cannot afford to explore, colonize, powertech, convert, and can barely afford to go to war. My main enemies are Oman and Ak Koyana (or whatever they are called) who I cannot hope to defeat by the end of the game without a lot of luck, and all the while my inflation spirals out of control because I get neither inflation events or can afford to reduce my treasury enough for governors to kick in.

That's it...

With all that considered, I just don't feel sorry for myself, I find it a challenge, so therefore I don't feel sorry for everyone worrying about Barca becoming too powerful.

I am fine with this war going to an extreme end, like I have stated, if Barca and I survive, than it's game over. We will take more than just Ganges, and we will know that your all falling farther and farther behind.

I am sorry if what I posted is being misunderstood.

I just prefer smaller wars with clear goals.

Apparentley, others prefer large drawn out wars with mercenaric goals.

I can do both, no big worry. Just would have liked to avoided the hard feelings that come from countries being dismantled methodically.

So, good luck in the war!

Just being adequate to the occasion Specterx

I am not trying to do anything other than meet my preselected game goals, none of which involve anything in this war, so would like to get back to them!
