Väinö I said:
De Gaulle was "Guderian" of France. That is, he suggested that armour should be concentrated into seperate divisions. His ideas were crushed by old school opposition, which would have also been Guderan's fate without Hitler.

That's probably the reason why they made him to a research team leader.

Told you it was screenshot day! :D

Yes, my guess is that De Gaulle is head of Doctrine Research for French Army.

AC.de St-Nazaire Penhoet is a shipyard - Naval construction
Dewoitine - a fighter aircraft - Air Force construction
Rhone-Poulenc a chemical company
Interestingly type this into Google "Rhone-Poulenc WWII" to get this link: http://www.lightstreamers.com/horowitz/Solving_The_Anthrax.html
Saint-Gobain is a global leader in the manufacture and development of engineered materials such as glass, insulation, reinforcements, containers, building materials, ceramics and plastics. The formation of the Crystals & Detectors Division reinforces Saint-Gobain's commitment to the development of photonic materials and radiation detection and measurement products. - from their web site.

It's all very interesting :D

Lots of new research done here - but this is just France

Beta Testers - expect to be very busy with your research for minor countries!

Love it!

I wonder about the tree itself though. It looks like the overview button in highlighted, and techs from several of the areas that the different buttons can focus on are all together on the screen. But there don't seem to be any army navy, or air force techs showing there. Other than the assembly line techs which are in the industrial tree in HOI and I assume here also. And this screen does not appear to have a scroll button on it.

..for me this looks more like the industrial screen:

- industrial
- electronics of all sort
- nuclear research
- agriculture

the only strange thing is the rocket research...

...whatever the tech tree looks really nice but a little bit alpha at this point...

This screenshot is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen! Is Dewoitine the only 'research leader' or whatever yor calling them for aircraft research or will there be Caudron, Morane-Saulnier or Bloch etc.?

Yes, constructed Emilie Bertin and some other ships in the French Navy.

It was not the most majore French warship contructor though. Both Brest and Loirent Navy Yards made more warships.

Maybe they'll pop up if you hit the replace button.

My guess is that for specific techs -green = done, light green and raised = available for immediate research (as with current tech system) and red = much more research required (no real surprise there aye? ;) )

I've done a bit of Googling (research) and looked at the screen some more...
Why are some whole areas (on the right side of screen) away from the research teams surrounded in dark green shading and some not?
Rocketry / Agriculture / Cryptography / Synthetic Oil : Dark Green

My guess is that these correspond to one of the research teams (my guess is Saint-Gobain team specialities)
Where as, light green groups would be Rhone-Poulenc matching the 'Factory' icon to Manufacturing?

I'm... I'm speechless.

The new tech system looks very cool. And just when people were expressing their doubts about the system.

Of course, having replaceable research teams raises the inevitable question - how will the AI handle this? Will it be like HoI ministers, that only change via event, or will there be some sort of algorithm to handle the tech situation? IOW, will research teams be a part of the AI file?

He he. Each new sneak preview does have a tendency of raising more new questions than it answers, doesn't it. :p

All will be revealed/answered in time...but I wouldn't recommend holding your breath.

Well, it does let us have some basis for our questions. Before they were just "general" shots in the dark, they can be more specific now.

But what's the definition of the replace button ???
Replace one of the three techs to another ???

Replace the R&D team with another team. That's my guess. Bigger country you have, more R&D teams. But you can only have 5 teams working.

Zyntrezaq said:
I couldn't agree with this more. Being limited to the research areas listed would just be daft and too constricting.

As germany lats say for arguments sake that they have 2 teams with armour and art specialties would mean that it would be a lot easier to quickly go up the tech tree in tanks and the like. Where as other countries like poland would be lucky to have one team with this and would have exploit the tech tree in other areas to gain any advantage.

Maybe you can research everything with every team. You get a research bonus if you use your armour expert too research armour.

Germany should be better to research than Poland.
