Looks great. It looks as if each research team can only work on specific things. For exmaple, the top most research team can't work on secret weapons or aircraft. But then if you replace them, maybe they can.

So you can replace 2 teams, and have 2 teams working on the same type of reaserch, meaining you can have better fighters sooner if you assing more reaserch teams towards it.

Am I right, I hope so...

Max. 5 research at time?

Seems that a team can work on max 3 techs, that makes 15
or in this case 14

De Gaulle as a research team leader? Does this mean that the French can actually develop a sane armour organization? :D

Is Guderian going to be research team leader for Germany, then?

And wasn't de Gaulle a colonel in '39 (just nitpicking :p)?

You sure. Maybe those icons represent what techs they can research, but can only research 1 at a time. So looks like De'gaul can research land doctrines, infantry and maybe air doctrines? So maybe you can only assign one of those that qualifies.

Dont know about De Gaulle, but Guderian became a General Inspector of the Panzer Troops in February 1943, so it looks very possible.

My guess about R&D.

Each team have their specialties. Like the first team, they are best on Armour & artillery, naval and?

So if you have a project about artillery, you assign that team.

If you want research industry, select the Rhone-Poulenc team.

De Gaulle was "Guderian" of France. That is, he suggested that armour should be concentrated into seperate divisions. His ideas were crushed by old school opposition, which would have also been Guderan's fate without Hitler.

That's probably the reason why they made him to a research team leader.

Hmmm, also possible, but that means you are limited in some techs to one team, some other techs can developed by two teams.
And this would be very static in this case. So if you want to go for a tech which was not traditionally for France (1 Team) you can't; and the tech you have the possibility to take two teams you don't want to do......strange

could imagine that the amount of teams from 1 to 5 depends on the amount of IC invested in R&D...

...and that you have more then the max. 5 teams all with different research areas and skills...

means GER and SU have more high skilled arms and armor teams then e.g. UK or France...

..and UK and USA have more higher skilled naval research teams...

maybe some nations even don't have teams for all research areas...

...whatever - seems that thers is no chance to technologically outpace the enemies anymore !

I couldn't agree with this more. Being limited to the research areas listed would just be daft and too constricting.

As germany lats say for arguments sake that they have 2 teams with armour and art specialties would mean that it would be a lot easier to quickly go up the tech tree in tanks and the like. Where as other countries like poland would be lucky to have one team with this and would have exploit the tech tree in other areas to gain any advantage.

I think this is correct. I seem to remember hearing that certain research teams would be better in certain areas.
And I assume that the replace button would mean replacing the research team with a team with different skill and presumably different specialties. I wonder if your research team skill can improve when they get more experience...

I wonder about the tree itself though. It looks like the overview button in highlighted, and techs from several of the areas that the different buttons can focus on are all together on the screen. But there don't seem to be any army navy, or air force techs showing there. Other than the assembly line techs which are in the industrial tree in HOI and I assume here also. And this screen does not appear to have a scroll button on it.

And I also wonder if every country will have exactly five research teams.

Yeah, I heard the same thing, it will be kind of like leader traits, you can have Commandos lead tanks, but better to leave them with the Mountain troops. Same here, some research groups are more effective at Tanks than Indutry for example. Skill also probably means that the higher the skill the faster they work on projects.

Finally, if the teams have locations, is it possible to capture reaserch teams and use them for one's own use?
