Frequency of ACAs (poll)

Per the discussion which was posted here, it seems there are those who think the ACAs come out too frequently. So, while we'll be sticking with the quarterly format for 2014, beginning in 2015, we may change, based on the results of this poll. Please use the link indicated for discussions of this question, and please feel free to promote the poll in your signatures and in your AARs.

I found this a very tough question. I do love the frequency of the ACAs, but I never got round to / found the time to vote this time around so feel I can't argue that having them quarterly doesn't make it difficult to keep up. I've voted for trimesterly as a halfway house between the traditional quarterly awards and bi-annual ones (which I didn't like last year).

I think quarterly is reasonable. I've found a certain amount of momentum is needed to keep a project going, so I'd rather err towards too often than not often enough. Trimester would be my backup position, but I think six months is too slow.

I've actually made a u-turn and gone for quarterly. While I can't always get around to vote everywhere, I think there are far more merits with the current system than with the mooted changes.

I am a newcomer to AARland, and my word therefore has significantly less sway than those who have been involved for years, but it seems to me there isn't enough activity to warrant quarterly ACAs. I try to read and participate as much as I can, but in my effort to make a decision in only one (1) AAR sub-form, Vicky 2, the deadline to cast my vote came and went. I'm of the opinion there should be less frequent awards with a longer deadline to cast a vote.

I'm going to have to voice my opposition to lengthening the voting time. One month is usually fine for me (though I'm not sure about others) and, frankly, anything more than two months would just get tedious – especially when one consciences that that would effectively have voting going on all-year round if we stick with a quarterly setup.

Yeah I would agree, this year's First Quarter just falls at the inopportune time of Spring and final exams for some and vacations for others, so I understood expanding it out an extra month due to that, especially since the EUIV forum only had a few votes by the end of the first month. If we keep changing the set up more and more people will forget when the voting begins and ends, if we keep it steady and not change it again it will always be in the months of January, April, July, and October.

Last year may have caused a wrinkle in voting for this year due to it being broken into a semi-annual vote, but if it gets back on track as quarterly I think the turnout will return to its previous norm.

Did we have two months? I must've just missed the post then. I thought it was something like two weeks.

I didn't check the date of the original post, so yeah, two months is plenty of time.

Yeah it was two months this time...usually its been a month long process, but Avindian made the decision to extend it due to lack of turnout in the month of April.

Well, if you want to be technical... I extended it because I had a bunch of IRL stuff to do in a short period. But, the low turnout was a factor too.

In the future, it will be one month. The problem is making sure people figure out when they start!

Ohhh that makes sense!

I think once it gets rolling as quarterlies (again) if that's indeed the way it stays, people will figure it out. Although I suppose us WritAARs could put it in our signature, saying the ACAs will probably be April, July, October and January. At least in the past when those months rolled around I started looking for the voting threads.
