Hi all

stupid question but I’m having issues with it. How do you fire the French Revolution playing as France. The normal revolution fired in the Persian region so that’s not going to happen for me. It’s 1736 I have 0 stab and in the stab and expansion menu the French Revolution isn’t even a possible disaster? I keep taking myself down to -1 stab but it only wants to fire the other disasters and doesn’t show the revolution at all?

cheers

No it does not but was there a revolution tag? Did someone defeat the revolution, if no it is super weird that it stopped if yes it is bad luck.

Nobody was the target :(

amazingly revolutionary rebels spawned!! So I speed 5 until they have the country and guess what! No revolution when they break me, instead I change to a republic... so apparently never let revolutionary rebels win.... lesson learned there.

so annoyed that the revolution started in Persia - in the same game industrialisation spawned in Ming. What is this madness haha - this stuff should all happen in Europe!

You need the revolution in 20% of your development to get the disaster. Without the disaster, the revolutionary rebels don't turn you revolutionary. There is a revolution map mode in which you can see where the revolution is. If you have very high absolutism, the center of revolution could convert your provinces even if they are far away. Or you could conquer provinces which have the revolution. If the center of revolution was destroyed when the revolution failed in Persia, you can try to get the event The Revolutionary Torch is Rekindled so that a new center spawns in your land.

The event has been reworked so that you no longer want to lose to the rebels, fwiw. You choose sides now and you want to defeat the rebels, regardless of what side you are on. I don't know all of the ins and outs since the mechanic was updated, but I think it might be possible for the revolution to spawn more than once under the right circumstances. Your chances are a lot better with high absolutism, low prestige, and low stability.

Thanks for all the responses, I think the rekindle option you gave would be the best shout. I was using the map mode you mention to watch it spread, but when the revolution stopped it removed from ALL provinces leaving me in the lurch, and with it being so far away getting it in 20% of provinces (considering my size) wasn’t going to happen at a fast rate anyway. In retrospect I should have conquered the land in order to ensure it didn’t stop, perhaps even developed the land to try and get the 20% faster?? Hell maybe even released some nations to reduce development overall to speed it up - but does it feel right having to do that in the first place? Not so sure.

you will have seen my emperor was a 6 5 5 from the screen hence why I let that fire, but I did honestly think I would have turned revolutionary - since they where revolutionary rebels. Regardless of my stupidly it should of happened, as that’s how it’s worded - why have those types of rebels if you won’t become revolutionary; seems mad.

Given up on the run now to be honest, late game is just so frustrating to play - the amount of hoops you have to jump through to get events gets more and more annoying as you go - it becomes less of an empire management game and more of a tick box exercise to get what you need (mini rant sorry)
