Will the French OOB be nerfed like in the previous games or will it be somewhat realistic ?
For example will the game actually model the Fortress divisions of the Maginot line or will it just pretend like in previous games that there was only regular infantry divisions and fortresses there ? There were 5 Divisions d'infanterie de Forteresse and 20 defensive units across France (with a varied composition, granted)
Will the OOB represent the tank regimentsthat existed in 1936 and weren't in divisions yet ? (for example the Combat Tank Group 501 which was formed in 1939 from the 501st Combat Tank regiment, which had two light tanks battalions equipped with R35 at the start of the war and 2 reservist battalions equipped with FT-17). The Divisions Cuirassées de Reserve were more or less organised around those regiments, the 1st DCr had 2 battalions from the 511th Combat Tank Regiment, and two battalions from the 509th Combat Tank Regiments. In 1935 they were reorganized in 5 Brigade of 2 regiments each (each regiment had 2 active battalions and 2 reserve battalions) and the 6th brigade was organized in 1938 from the already existing (511th and 512th regiments). Hte also was 6 tank Battalion in North Africa (1 in Algeria, 3 in Tunisia, 2 in Morocco) and one in the Levant.
Will the Recon Groups from the infantry divisions be included (they weren't organic units, but every infantry divisions had one affected to it) and they were at least battalion sized (almost a thousand men, 4 light tanks and 35 armoured cars for the mechanized ones,
Will the colonial troops not in divisions in the colonies will be better represented ? (the divisions were done well), because why the 11 infantry regiments and 2 artillery regiments of Indochina became 2 divisions, while the 10 infantry regiments and 3 artillery regiments of Morocco (2 regiments and one group of equal size) become only one division worth of troops ? Why the 4 infantry regiments and the one artillery regiment of the Levant disappear (even when it was ideally division sized)? There was enough troops in Senegal and around to put a division there (2 Infantry regiments, two infantry battalions and one artillery regiment in Senegal alone, 9 other battalions in the AOF and one regiment and 3 battalion in the AEF) and there was 2 infantry regiments (and one battalion) and one artillery regiment in Madagascar, but somehow, Paradox managed to put an insane number of division in Djibouti, where there was ... one battalion of colonial troops. Oh and the 3 Algerian divisions were organized with 2 infantry brigades, one with 2 regiment, the other with 3, some regiments with 4 battalion (native ones), other with 3 (french ones), yeah, the French army was sometimes weird.
Will the Cavalry arm still be completely randomly organised ? in HoI3 in 1936 we had : one DLM (and it is Mécanique, not Motorisé) which is right (the second one was created in 1937 from the 5th Cavalry Division), and only 2 Cavalry divisions, one with 2 cavalry brigade and one motorized infantry brigade and the other one with one of each... In 1936 there was 4 Cavalry division (and one DLM) each with 2 brigades (of 2 regiment with 4 squadron each, so something like 2 battalion in HoI4 org system as the cavalry regiments were small) of Cavalry, one regiment of artillery, one Armoured car group (which became regiments in 1937) and one motorized infantry Battalion. There also was 2 spahis brigade in Mainland France, 3 brigades in Algeria, one brigade (and one regiment) in Tunisia, and 5 regiments in Morocco (also one regiment in the Levant with 2 AC groups).
So will Paradox make the French army closer to its real strength or will it be nerfed like in other games (yeah i know some units couldn't be represented in HoI2, but in HoI3, most of those could have been) ?
